“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2010

This is a good hotel for what we paid. Price includes breakfastr and free parking. Rooms are clean (ok). It took us nearly ten minutes to drive to the Falls.

I came up for the Niagara Ice Wine Festival in Winter on a budget. The service was excellent, friendly and informative. Clean, no frills, it fit the bill. Talked to a couple of repeat customers for business and casino visits. Great Italian restaurant nearby. Very close to Outlet shopping center. I was apprehensive at first, but by the end of my 3 night stay, found that I enjoyed the location and surrounding stores, restaurants and services... and couldn't beat the price.

We arrived in Niagara around 1pm and tried to check in early but our rooms were not ready so we ate lunch and went to the Canada 1 outlets for a bit and headed back to the HoJo just after 3 (check-in is 3pm). We were told our room was not ready and would be ready in 20 minutes. After an hour later and a complimentary bottle of wine for our trouble, we were able to get our room keys.
The room was older looking but decent. Not filthy at all and the washrooms were clean with an interesting red bathtub/shower. Surprisingly quiet in the evening considering considering it was Labour Day weekend. The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but take the $5 hot breakfast offer at the front desk when you check in, not a bad deal. Also, another breakfast offer is the Tim Horton's across the street.
Overall, the staff was friendly and courteous, the room was decent, not a bad stay at all. A bit far from the falls, a 10-15 minute drive but if you could get a room closer to the attractions for a few bucks more, it may be worth the extra $. Because we were not walking distance to the attractions, we had to pay for parking every time we went to the tourist area.

I stayed in the Howard Johnson Express for a few days in the summer with my husband and two kids. The staff is friendly and very nice. They even helped me find great deals in the falls for tourist attractions and my made the trip more enjoyable and comfortable for my family.

They also offer a hot breakfast for all their guests- which was nice because I didnt have to go far and it was all done at a great low price. The rooms were clean and had all the basics and I was right beside the pool. I definately got my money's worth.

Location-poor. Room-non smoking room smelled horribly of smoke and had burn marks in carpet, no screen in window in order to let fresh air in (ended up buying air freshener and candle), hair from previous occupants in jacuzzi and shower, bathroom fan did not operate. Jacuzzi-loud as a jet engine, took over 1/2 hour to fill 1/2 way. Pool-filthy, dirty, "stuff" floating in it. The "breakfast" that was to be included was continenal and served from 6 30 to 8 30 (on vacation it would be nice to sleep in!). Sit down breakfast was an additional charge. Would not return or recommend.

Between the teenage frat boys stumbling in drunk at 2 AM, yapping and hollaring in the hallways , the ghetto couple next door that never travelled a day in their lives fighting in the adjacent room about who was hitting on who e at the bar, the slamming doors that need hydrolic adjustments, and the jaccuzi tubs which people inconsideratly use at 3AM that sound like freight trains..you can't get a wink of sleep here! What a dive! This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The price was in our budget, but speaks to what you get when you skimp on your hotel costs. PAY THE MONEY FOR A DECENT HOTEL. Hilton, Sheraton, Double Tree. You will regret saving money on this hotel, when you end up cranky for your whole trip becuase you can't sleep. ... BRING EAR PLUGS

The only thing good about this hotel is the location and the parking, only 8 bucks underground.

We wanted to go to Niagara Falls without spending a fortune. We couldn't believe how cheap these rooms were. We paid $46 US for a large, two queen bed room a Saturday night in May. This is nothing fancy - it's a basic motel by the highway. But for the price, the location, and the pet-friendliness, you can't beat it. My only complaint is the cancellation policy. Most places allow you to cancel the day of check-in, but this hotel requires 24 hours notice. That's not always practicable when you're driving a long distance and are not sure if you'll be able to make it to your destination.
