Good hotel for money. About mid-way between the two main areas - hotel row and Clifton Hills. Plan to do alot of walking if staying here. Rooms are exceptionally comfortable, clean, and quiet. We saved over $125 a nite over comparible rooms with a view making it well worth it to say here. Many good restaurants close by.

  • Liked — Exceptionally comfortable room
  • Disliked — Needed to do significant walking to most places

We had originally booked 4 nights at his hotel, but escaped after 2. The first problem is, that it allows smoking on some floors. So make sure that you request a room as far from this as possible if it bothers you. They told me we had a non smoking room, but we could both still smell it. The second thing was all the kids running up and down the halls. It seemed that every family had at least 3 children and all of them were very loud. I'm not a crabby person, I know how that sounds...What I'm trying to say is..if you want to relax, I don't know if I'd recommend this hotel. It was like a scene out of National Lampoons Vacation mulitiplied times 100. Also, we had to use the washing machine at the hotel (we had been traveling for 10 days at his point) and they sucked. The dryer took forever to dry our clothes and we had to keep feeding money into it like it was starving. It probably cost us $10 to do 2 loads of laundry. There was a hot tub in the room, that was pretty cool. There was a TGIF right next door, we went there for lunch 1 day and it was absolutely disgusting. I've eaten at that chain before but this one was awful. The whole area was just gawdy and obnoxious. We explored for half of the first day, and stayed in the room for the next day and a half until we escaped to Niagra on the Lake. If you are looking for somewhere to chill out and relax, you need to Niagra on the Lake. Much more sophistocated crowd. Nicer scene.

We spent two days (July 15 and 16) in this hotel it was a very good experience.
Check-in: it took only a few minutes and we were given a free room-upgrade.
Location: It is not in front of the Falls (you are not paying for that), but everything is within walking-distance. Cliffton Hill is three blocks far from the hotel, which is also far enough for not hearing the noise coming from that crowded area.
Indoor swimming pool: very nice, we enjoyed it a couple of hours before having dinner.
Outdoor swimming pool: it looks good, but it was too cold for it.
Breakfast: we took the 2-day package, so breakfast was included. Simply superb.
Dinner: the voucher you received when buying the package is also valid for the restaurant which is located in the Marriot Hotel, with very nice views of the Falls, so we went there. Of course that is a much more expensive option than having dinner in TGI’s Friday or the Keg Steakhouse located in the hotel, as expected.
Parking: it costed 10 CAD per day.
Check-out: the easiest one I've ever had. I received the bill in my room the morning before leaving. Since everything was fine, I just phone the reception, said we were leaving and left the key in the room. End of the story.

This hotel was less expensive than all the other hotels in the area because there wasn't a view of the falls. However, everything was in walking distance and the hotel was very clean and nice. We saved $100 a night compared to other hotels in the area and it was worth it. The bed was unbelievably comfortable!! Clifton Hill is one block away and there is plenty of restaurants and shops just steps away. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott July 18-20. Overall we were pleased with the hotel and thought it was a good value. We booked directly through the hotel website. You should check on a regular basis even after you have booked since the prices do fluctuate and the Marriott will do price adjustments. About a week after we booked the prices went down by $20 per room and they had a summer promotion for a free breakfast promotion during certain days of the week and on weekends. Check Marriott website for more details.

When we checked in we had asked if there were any rooms available on the higher floors (even though we had booked free breakfast promotions available for floors 1-5 only). Not only did they find us a room on the highest floor, but they actually gave us a free upgrade to the Junior Presidential suite. We were quite pleased with this. All the rooms are Cityview rooms but you should walk outside the hotel before you check in and tell them which side you want to face. Even though both the phone and onsite staff insisted all views are the same, certain sides of the hotel are more appealing than others. We had requested the side that faced the “direction of the falls” which was nice since we were able to see the 10pm falls fireworks show from our room.

Buffet Breakfast was plentiful and served inside The Keg restaurant which is situated inside the Courtyard Marriott. There was plenty of seating within the restaurant and we never saw any line ups to get in. Breakfast is served from 6:30am-12:00pn. There are both cold and hot items.

The room and hotel were generally quite clean. The only negative thing we have to say about the hotel was the indoor pool. The pool area was very clean but the pool itself was dirty and overcrowded. I had read many previous reviews stating the pool was quite clean so perhaps we were just unfortunate during our visit.

The hotel is a five minute walk from Clifton Hills and a 15 minute walk from the falls. There are many restaurants within walking distance but most are quite pricey. The attractions within Clifton Hill are also quite expensive but somewhat entertaining. Marineland was also a lot of fun (but expensive) and definitely geared towards families with children under 10.

We had a great 3 day visit in Niagara Falls and would highly recommend the Courtyard Marriott to others.
