“Marriot Hotel & Spa”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The hotel is at the far end of the Fallsview Blvd for walking purposes. It is a bit of a hike to Clifton Hill for those that have difficulty walking long distances . It does however afford a very good view of the Horseshoe Falls, if you get a Falls view room. I was on the 16th floor and the view was awesome .

However, they wanted 35.00 per day to park your car which is ridiculous. There are alternatives to the 35.00 fee. Go to the Fallsview Casino 2 blocks down the street and park your car ( best deal in the area ) it's a 5 minute walk to the hotel and pay 5.00 whether you park for 1 day or 2 days . It's a daily fee and there are no tickets involved that are date stamped, so you only pay for the day you leave . You buy your ticket on the way into the underground garage the day you leave. If you don't mind a 5 minute walk it's a deal to park at the casino

The beds are okay but not great . The only thing going for this place is the view . Pool and Spa were closed for emergency repairs and that sucks when you have friends from Australia coming to visit the area, revolving doors were closed both days when their reason was applicable for one of the days. If you want to go the falls you can use the incline railway for 5. 00 return trip up and down the hill which is at the back of the hotel facing the falls.

Room Tip: Falls view room on upper floors may be worth the price

I was here with my wife for our 5-year anniversary, we stayed on the 21st. floor, and the view is breathtaking. We had a romantic package that included breakfast and one fine-dining at the hotel restaurant, food and service was very good. The location is great, walking distance to many, many restaurants and of course the falls attractions. But the best thing was to see the surprise on my wife's face when she opened the windows and saw the spectacular view of the falls... after I had told her we were staying at a 2-1/2 star hotel somewhere around the area, just priceless.

The room was great but the view was outstanding! We had a Falls view room on the 20th floor and let me tell you it was impressive. We traveled on the first week of December (Dec. 2 - 5) and the Christmas decorations gave the place a nice touch. The staff were friendly and always ready to help you in any way. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for the 20th floor or above.

Great hotel with fab view of the falls. The room was clean and spacious. Beds were very comfortable, but did not love the pillows. Would come back and stay again. Found a great groupon deal that included breakfast buffet, 40 toward dinner and 40 toward spa. Only downside 35$ per night to valet car.

First impressions of our room was that we had time warped back to the seventies
I was expecting at any moment to hear Elvis singing in the adjoining room.
This aside once you stepped up to the window the dated room was quickly forgotten.
The view from the window is breathtaking making the rooms TV redundant.
Breakfast on the mezzanine floor is efficient and nice. the freshly cooked omelettes are great.
The Funicular Railway opposite the hotel is a great way to get down to the actual falls.
Taking the lift from the visitors center to behind and below the waterfall is a must if you visit the falls.

Room Tip: Request the highest room as the higher the level the better the view. There are no non-falls facing...

My wife and I have visited this hotel many many times (about 2 times a year since 2004). This is the first time we've been VERY disappointed. You would think with the number of times we've stayed there that it must be great right ? Why else would we keep going back? Well this time around we've noticed a lot has changed.

For starters... BE WARNED the hotel is under renovation. With the way that most people rely on the Internet you would think that they would post on their website. Lucky for us, I read tripadvisor comments so I knew what we were walking in to.

The lobby bar is closed. So the only place to get a drink is either room service or the only restaurant - Terrapin Grille. "Bar foods" can only be ordered from room service we were told.

As someone stated... Don't expect to have hot water after 9 pm. We were told this upon check in. However we found this as an inconvenience because we knew that we would be unable to shower coming back from a night out, so we ended up staying in our first night.

The pool is closed! If you have kids... you're screwed for hotel fun!!!

We purchased a package which included 2 breakfasts, 2 - $40 dinner vouchers, and 2 - $40 spa vouchers.

Since my wife has a severe seafood allergy, we couldn't eat at the Terrapin Grille restaurant due to fear of cross contamination of their seafood selection. We asked about the cooking methods of the seafood and we were told "I can not guarantee that the food will be cooked separately". GREAT! When we asked if we could use our voucher for room service we were told "we've never done that before".. Meanwhile EVERY time we've stayed we've been able to do it. We ended up paying $80 for a chicken caesar salad, a roast beef sandwich, and a hamburger. (Which includes taxes AND a 20% service fee)

The breakfast buffet was the best part. Get the package or you'll be paying $46 for 2 people for breakfast. (although the second day we ate there our table had a huge stain, and dirty dishes on it, and there where only about 3 other couples eating at the time- so no excuse why the table couldn't have been refreshed.) Staff were very friendly and helpful.

You have to make a reservation for the spa. Which we don't know why... because when we went to check it out the place was empty! She wouldn't allow my wife to get a manicure then and there because she didn't have a reservation. So $80 on the Spa vouchers were wasted. (we had plans the next day or she would have used the voucher)

PARKING... jumped up $15!!!! It used to be $20 (now $35) for valet or self parking... And it's taxed so expect to pay closer to $40 per day to park. However you do have access to your car when you call down to valet for your car.

With it being winter you would expect them to be vigilant with maintaining ice and snow. We ventured out and found the parking area (valet - uncovered) and sidewalk on the Marriott property ice covered. Quite the safety hazard!!! All other properties around us were cleared or had salt thrown down.

For the most part the view was spectacular from our room on the 17th. It was quiet being the middle of the week (Jan 20-22 2015)

You can tell the hotel is starting to get outdated. Windows were dirty. Furniture starting to show their age, they were faded and wobbled. No basket with assorted items for purchase. Bar fridge is no longer stocked with beer/wine/soda. Water is offered at $6.95 (excludes taxes and fees) The lamps by the bedside flickered and we unplugged them for fear of a fire starting.

If you are picky about your pillow please do yourself the favour and bring your own. Pillows are terrible. Sheets are rough and smell like they used too much bleach. No artwork or pictures in the room like they used to have. One only.. and it was in the washroom.

If you are not a Marriott Rewards member you are charged $6.95 per day for WIFI.

You have to purchase a WEGO bus pass to get around ($7 + tax for adults for 24 hours) Which is available at the gift shop (Which isn't open in the evening).

We will be emailing the general manager of this particular Marriott and head office. We are very disappointed with how its gone downhill in the last year.

Room Tip: The higher up the better!

We stayed in Marriott for long week-end and we enjoyed every minute of our stay:

Room was excellent, very clean and nice classic style.
Washroom was perfect as well.

We enjoyed the pools with Niagara Falls night view. Amazing hotel and location is great!
