“Falls View, Crowne Plaza Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

We stayed at the falls view crowne plaza for a night on Sunday Oct 27th The hotel commands an excellent position for a great view of the falls. Its fairly central to the area but you will have to walk to get to the centre of the area.

We booked an upgraded suite on-line, when we arrived we found the concierge very nice and friendly we were given our keys and advised that we had been upgraded to the executive level. great, so we headed up to the room. when we got in the room it was not as we had expected, we had booked a suite this was just a room and not a great one either. We went back down to the lobby and spoke to the concierge. He was very apologetic and having looked at our print out booking form realised the mistake was on the part of the hotel and we did indeed book a suite. He was lovely to deal with, we took his name but i cont find it, so sorry but he is a huge asset to this hotel and should be commended. By way of an apology we also got a complimentary bottle of wine sent to our suite. Great customer service.

The suite was lovely, with the most amazing view of both falls and to the side the bright lights of the casinos and a ferris wheel. The room had a comfy sofa and an area to eat and drink with patio doors. Note, the doors dont open. The bedroom area was small but nicely decorated with a lovely comfy bed. The bathroom was very small but functional with some nice free toiletries.

We were given vouchers for breakfast, there is a lovely buffet breakfast and eggs can be cooked to order. The best part however, was the view, another great view of the falls. We didn't visit any other part of the hotel so cannot comment. We wondered around the area which is nice, but, wall to wall casinos so if gambling is your thing there is plenty of choice. It was so cold so we didn;t walk far.

All in all a great stay and we will visit again.

Thanks to all at the Crowne -Plaza a delightful stay.

Room Tip: splurge on the suite its well worth the money

This hotel first opened in July 1929. It is a very elegant hotel. However, the advent of Starbucks and all the other chains and souvenir shops have marred its beauty. The parking garage belonging to the casino next door mars what was once a beautiful view of the falls and the river.

The standard room (at least the one I was in) had a magnificent view of the parking garage. The view, coupled with the size of the room (not much bigger than a double bed), gives a very claustrophobic feeling. After I was moved to a larger room (two double beds), I had an excellent view of the indoor pool area. This had its own set of problems...the enclosure's acoustics were not the greatest, so even a normal conversation of anyone in the pool area was very distracting. And heaven forbid you forget to draw the privacy drapes; someone might see more than they bargained for. :-) I suppose there are rooms in this hotel with an actual "fallsview"; I just wasn't privy to them. Make sure when booking that you know what you're getting, particularly for the money paid.

The staff was pleasant enough, and even found me a different room; however, they really brightened up when I presented my Priority Club membership. Whole different attitude, complete with a complimentary bottle of wine. The porters were probably the best of the lot. Coming off a business trip to Cyprus, I had a bit of luggage. They didn't bat an eye, and were very gracious and helpful, even when I moved to a different room within an hour or so of arriving.

The hotel is part of the IHG chain, including the Sheraton a couple of doors down. They have an EXCELLENT (but pricey) spa. Everything in the area is connected with tunnels or walkways, so you really don't have to go "out" if you don't want to. In between this hotel and the Sheraton is the casino, so if that's your thing, you're in luck.

I wish I had read the reviews of this hotel before I booked; I would have at least known what I was in for...

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room with a view of the Falls when booking, if possible. Rooms over the pool...

We stayed in a standard room with 2 queen sized beds, there was not enough room for 2 regular sized adults to pass each other in the room. It is the smallest room we have ever stayed in anywhere in the world, and we travel frequently! We stayed with our 18 month old and 12 year old, way way too small for a family! The bathroom had not been cleaned there was hair everywhere, and the carpet was stained. The elevators were also very small to the rooms. The best part of the whole stay was the heat in our room was broken and stuck on high, even in a turned off position we could not control the heat and had to open the window in October! When we called down to desk we could not move they had a conference and were full and didnt offer any help beyond that! Very expensive stay $400 thankfully it included the waterpark which was wonderful! I highly recommend! !

Room Tip: If you have a family stay in a suite, you will appreciate the room.

The room was nice, the view great, but the room, dinner and even parking was overpriced. We had dinner on the top floor of the hotel which was incredibly overpriced and we would never do this again. We went during off season and could have found a much less expensive room with a view, dinner, even no parking fees. Tried calling the front desk several times from the room and each time the phone rang and rang. Each time we had to take the elevator to the front desk to speak to someone. Loved the area, may return, but won't stay at this hotel again.

Great hotel adjunction to the Casino and indoor connection to the famous Lundy's Lane. As a platinum member we are given the 2 rooms suite. We arrived at the Hotel at 2:30 but unfortunately our room is not ready until 3:30, that is a turned down..
however our overall experience is great with this property.

The falls are phenomenal but I couldn't say this about the crown plaza our room backed on to a car park n a noisey big fan which we could hear all night rooms were small as was the bathroom but I must say the vathroom was well stocked with lovely towels n toiletries. The lifts were slow n often full we were on floor 8 n a couple of times it was was faster to walk. Costa coffee in front of hotel was good

stay away from that hotel.
when we got to the hotel the reception girl wasn't very nice. but this was just the beginning. we had to pay for the parking 20$ a day. in addition, in order to get refrigerator to the room we had to pay more 25$.
the room was small but the best part is that its window was to the indoor pool. we had day and night according to the pool hours. when the pool was open we had a light from the window and when it was close we had dark window, in addition, anyone can come and look into the room from the pool. there is a curtain but it is not closed totally. they had to stamp it somehow so people cant look into the room.
also the location is far from the Niagara falls and you should walk more than 10 minutes in order to get there.
I will not stay at this hotel again for sure
