We decided to stay at this Hotel because we had done a Park and Fly from this Hotel in the past and we were beyond pleased. Upon check in we were informed that our vehicles immediately had to leave the parking lot to be parked at an off site parking location, we had no idea we would not be able to park on site like we had done in the past and at the time were not informed that parking would not be on site, so we had to basically unload all of our luggage and my husband and brother had to follow a shuttle van to a park and fly lot several blocks away and the shuttle van would then drive them back to the hotel. We had to make an additional trip to the lot the morning before we were scheduled to fly out to leave our jackets, winter boots etc. as we did not want to travel to the Caribbean with them and in the past had the convenience of just walking out to the hotel parking lot and placing these items in there. The hotel was extremely busy upon check in and there were several individuals who were also very unimpressed about the parking situation. If we would have known at the time of booking that parking was offsite that would have greatly impacted our decision on staying at this hotel.
The stay itself I have zero complaints regarding the room was spotless and clean, except for the fact I must mention for some reason this hotel seems to be so dry, we all woke up so dried out and thirsty and our eyes were burning, this never happens at other hotels but for some reason this Hampton has very dry air conditions. The continental breakfast was delicious as always and featured a wonderful selection. Our flight was delayed and we were accommodated with a late check out time. The shuttle to the airport was great and got us right where we needed to be.
Returning back home was another story all together, we had been told by the shuttle van driver to call the hotel when we returned back to Canada to find out where to meet them and they would shuttle us back to the hotel or directly to the lot where our vehicles were parked. We called the Hotel, found out where we needed to be waited a short time and boarded the shuttle van. It was nice that we did not have to wait a long time as the evening we returned home Toronto had issued an extreme cold weather alert.
The shuttle bus drove us back to the hotel and dropped us off, we went inside to inquire how long we would need to wait for the van to come and take us to our vehicles, at which point we were told they would not be driving us to the lot we had needed to call Park and Fly when we were at the airport and have them take us to our vehicles. This had NEVER been communicated with us at any point or we would not have even got onto the shuttle bus back to the hotel. The front desk staff proceeds to inform us that they would be happy to have the shuttle bus drive us back to the airport so we can get a Park and Fly bus to drive us to the lot, or they could call us a cab to take us back there, but that we had to go back to the airport and there was nothing they could do for us.
We were exhausted from a long day of travelling and this lack of communication, we now were in their lobby with our entire luggage and they were telling us we had to go back to the airport?! My husband declined and asked why they could not have the driver who previously drove them to drop off the vehicles take them over to get our cars to come back and get the rest of us at the hotel, to which the front desk staff said that the driver was done working for the night! We saw the van and the shuttle driver both on several times as we continued to sort things out. The front desk finally agreed to call us a cab (for which we told them they would have to pay for) to take us to our cars, we waited at least 15 minutes after which no one had arrived, we asked the front desk to call the cab again because at this point we were beyond exhausted and getting angrier by the second, the gentleman and lady behind the desk gave us such attitude about having to call again it was ridiculous! Finally a cab arrived we all head out to it only to be sent back inside by the cab driver stating he could not take the 5 of us and our luggage in his cab, he also was confused on where he had to take us and did not understand what was going on. After a long drawn out talk between the Cab driver and the front desk staff he decides he can only take 3 of us to the lot and the other 2 would wait at the hotel for us to drive back there and pick them up. The cab driver gets lost twice trying to find the lot and then despite what the front desk had told us and the driver refused to drive into the lot to drop us off, I am pregnant, in sandals, the weather is an extreme cold weather alert, the snow and ice is everywhere and we have to get out now and walk to our cars. We were livid! The worst part is that the entire time all this was going on the shuttle van driver was sitting in the van outside the front doors of the hotel empty but would not take us back to the lot!
I have also been a strong advocate for this hotel and have stayed here several times in the past but I will not be staying here again, the lack of communication, the ignorance and unaccommodating attitude of the staff was ridiculous! The hassle of the off-site parking is not worth it!
