This was honestly the worst stay at a hotel I've ever experienced. I am a Choice Privileges Elite Gold member and have been very loyal to the Choice Hotels line over the last few years and stay in hotels about twice a month, sometimes more. This was my first time at this particular hotel and my room was a disaster. At first glance the hotel looks nice on the outside and there is fancy new furniture in the lobby. The carpets in the hallways look new as well and from what I've read there are improvements being done in some of the rooms as well. I booked a smoking room and it quickly became clear that although they offer smoking rooms they also treat the people who book these rooms like scum because there is no way the other rooms look like this and are getting good reviews.
-The bathroom is so outdated/stained/dirty looking I didn't even want to go in. There was stuff on the walls and ceiling and the counters had a film on them in drop marks so it looked like it hadn't even been cleaned but I think it was just because it was outdated and worn away.
-The carpets were dirty
-The bedding was thin and old looking, and when I pulled the blanket back if that's what you want to call it the white sheets had stains on them that looked like oil.
-The room sizes are laughable.. there is just enough room to walk around the bed and I'm not even exaggerating this. I'm 5'3 105 pounds and the room was small for someone my size.
Over all it felt like I walked into 1975, not the kind of thing you expect when you've made the choice to be so loyal to a chain even when it's not the most convenient for you. I think this hotel is making improvements but just leaving the smoking rooms out of mind in this process because they think of these customers as lower on the totem pole. I've stayed at 5 star resorts before that allow smoking everywhere and they're able to keep the place looking immaculate so there is no excuse for this, or acting like the people using these rooms are dirty or something so they deserve less accommodations. There is after all a simple solution to this, don't offer smoking rooms!
I've never given such a bad review to a hotel before and in my younger days stayed at places that were only $55 a night.. that should tell you something. The Comfort Inn on Topflight drive is a better choice if you are also trying to stay with the Choice chain in the general area, it's a beautiful hotel and I've stayed there many many times.
