A few people don't like Japanese cuisine because they say everything tastes good only because of the soy sauce and the wasabe or the sauces. What I like about Japanese food is that it is simple, cooked in a simple way, and healthy (for as long as you keep away from the creamy sushis). They don't serve raw food only ... you can have cooked/grilled fish, beef and chicken. The works.
Iron Chef is a fave of mine. Whenever I can, I will order teppanyaki ... all the ingredients are fresh and served in front of you. The chef puts on a brief show while cooking and it's all in fun. When it's not teppanyaki, I order sushi and sashimi. Hmmm so good!
Service is excellent, as well. Excellent value for money.
Make a reservation, as they can be very busy.
