“A nice MOTEL”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

The Talbot trail Inn and suites is really a Motel, all their publicity carefully disguises this important fact, for me an establishment where the rooms open out directly onto the parking area is a Motel and not an Inn.

Once we came to terms with this, we settled into the confines of the quite dark brown room, with a lot of furniture, and found that apart from the bedding which was very shiny brown nylon, it had many of the conveniences of modern hotels, such as TV, Hot and cold running water, a well decorated bathroom and an air conditioning system, that when it first coughed into life, sounded as though a family of skeletons were dancing on a hot tin roof.

The place was clean and friendly, inexpensive, and served us well for a quick stopover on the way to our vacation.

My husband and I chose this inn due to all the positive reviews and we were not disappointed. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is quite large and look to have been upgraded recently. The window is small and with the chocolate colour theme as decor made the room quote dark. Perhaps a fresh coat of paint would brighten it up.

We has booked for two nights but our family business finished up early and it was no problem to cancel the second night.

The onsite restaurant serves up regular fare and is open early enough for breakfast

The Inn rooms are clean and spacious. The restaurant is very nice and the food in excellent. The staff are always so nice and very gracious to the older people. FABULOUS!! A proven winner in my book!! Sam, his family and staff are the best!!

Room Tip: If you have a family, the family suite is great!!

We stayed there Jan 25/14 after freezing our buns off at a local "resort" .Minus 20 plus wind chill. Room was well laid out with all the amenities and comforts,we opted for a hot tub. The place was great, onsite restaurant and bar. Food was outstanding, staff went out of there way to make your visit a pleasure.. They even had,,,wait for it.....ROOM SERVICE! I highly recommend
This jewel.

Room Tip: obviously, ground floor is preferred

I visit Leamington a couple of times each year to see relatives and usually stay at the Howard Johnson's. No more! This rebuilt motel with its central courtyard is my new resting spot from now on. Conveniently located on Hwy. 3, you can easily walk uptown or quickly drive to Point Pelee from here. Since all the rooms circle the courtyard behind the main office, highway noise is kept in the distance.
My room was a pleasant surprise - 2 large beds, huge TV, fridge, microwave, seating area and desk with a coffee machine, and a beautiful bathroom with marble-tile on walls and floor. And it's all gorgeously coordinated. And clean!
They also have a restaurant on site. The food is standard fare, but well done without being fancy. It's very handy having someplace close for breakfast and supper.
One bonus - long-distance calls are free from your room.
I highly recommend the Talbot Trail Inn.

Clean and spacious rooms, very comfortable bed, pillows are foam so if you like down bring your own. Friendly accommodating staff, free internet, cable TV, Interesting layout with rooms around the courtyard. On site restaurant served good food at reasonable prices. Not to far from Point Pelee National Park, will definitely stay there next time we visit the area. All in all a great place to stay.

The impression walking into the room is OK. Ours had a queen bed with chocolate sheets and shams, a noisy bar fridge which we unplugged the second night because it kept us awake, a microwave on top (different but ok), in-room coffee, large format TV, free wifi, (all good) and a clean bathroom with combined shower and tub. On the surface, it sounds perfect. And the price is right.

The first night was one of the worst sleeps of my entire life. (Sure, call me a wimp.) Mattress quality is only basic and sleep quality was poor. I travel with my own pillow because, well, pillows vary. It didn't matter.

On our second night, we heard every noise and movement from the rooms on either side, starting at 5:30 a.m., as they prepared to leave.

Every traveller has their own rightful schedule, and their own expectations about where they stay. Sometimes those things don't meet. But I shouldn't have to hear the early-morning behaviour of the people in rooms next to me.

Disappointing. Glad to be home.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from everyone else.
