“Very Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

This place is for someone frugal who is in transit over Kingston. Very basic place, seems somewhat run down. But cheap, and OK for night or so. Anyway, Kingston is not a touristy place and most won't usually require to stay longer. Good to carry for food.

Room door lock sticks, room is too dark, toilet plugs, shower doesn't work, couldn't login to wireless, coat rack fell off the wall, heater doesn't work, rear window opening mechanism broken. Didn't try the tv. I should have known something was up when I had to pay for the entire stay in advance. I won't be back.

Well, some of the reviews were negative reviews but I suspect that it comes from folks that expect staff to wipe their butts but I liked the place and thought the motel was clean and cheap. What more do you need?

Stopped here on my way through Kingston. It is conveniently located just off the 401 at the highway 15 exit. Nice room with kitchenette and comfortable king bed for $69. Would definitely recommend for a quick stay or if you're in the area for work for a little while. Just download the road from the military base in Kingston.

We arrived Kingston to discover that all hotels in Kingston were fully booked, as we headed onto motorway to find a place to stay we spotted the Motel.

The gentleman who owned it was very friendly and accommodated us immediately.

Rooms are big, spacious, spotlessly clean and have everything you would need.

We were even given advice and help on finding somewhere to eat, which was very helpful.

My booking into a single room with a king sized bed was easily performed while using the Internet. There were no full-time workers in the closed front office so the manager needed to be alerted. He arrived fairly shortly and the sign-in was quick and effortless. I purchased two soft drinks and proceeded to the room.
The rear windows opened up to a very pleasing yard of green grass and very healthy trees/bushes on the perimeter. However, the turning point had just been reached as there was an obvious spring bug on the wall above the sink and more were discovered throughout the room itself. I captured over 10 bugs and crushed them before flushing them down the drain.
I immediately went to the office to complain. The same manager returned to the room with me and his wife joined in. They mentioned that the appearance of the bugs was "cyclical" though not properly pronounced that way. This showed that these bugs were repeat visitors themselves. I had labelled these bugs as cockroaches to show my disgust and was repeatedly corrected with the identity of the bugs as "spring bugs". I already knew their identity but that was completely irrelevent because their large number inside the room itself was very wrong.
I was told that I could leave but my previous attempts to find an available room during this weekend had been fruitless as other popular events were also making demands on the available hotel rooms and The Holiday Inn and other more commendable locations were all over-booked.
I thought that after I had captured so many bugs that the problems would be temporarily improved. This proved later on to be quite wrong. I was visiting my daughter at Queen's University and had brought a change of clothes to take her to a more respectable restaurant. I changed in her house and discovered not one but two spring bugs in my suit!!
I had never received an apology nor any positive support from the staff at Kingston Motel East. My conclusion is that this motel does not deserve any worthy commendation as the known problem of the bugs had not been corrected from previous attempts that were obvious from the dialogue with the owner/operators. Their weak attempt at showing surprise at the large number did nothing to make amends.
I apologize for being this critical but the motel does not deserve to be allowed to operate as it is an unhealthy environment.

Room Tip: Inspect the rooms before signing the register. These bugs were immediately apparent but crowding ci...

Arrived early, staff was ready for us, room (double bed) was clean, comfortable and the air conditioning was "on" (temp that morning was in 90's). Staff recommended close eating establishments as well as free delivery of chinese food. We opted for the Chinese. It was great!.
Summary - Staff were most helpful, outgoing, and pleasant, The room was terrific (cable, fridge, and did I mention the air conditioning!.
Highly recommended

Room Tip: Rooms 20 - 25 are close to the office (ice) and coffee
