“Clean room, campy furniture, good prices.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

Excellent prices for what you receive. The rooms are a bit campy in terms of the furniture style (and there is a fireplace in the room). Odd locations for the ice but that's a small thing. Everything is clean, staff is pleasant. It's about a 2 star... decent rooms at a good price, comfortable beds, good breakfast. Nothing really outstanding but everything provided professionally and comfortably.

The stay was quite pleasant. Friendly staff greeted us and directed us to our room and ice machine. Our breakfast was quite good though I don't think they were prepared for it to be as busy as it was. The only thing that wasn't excellent was the check out experience. The woman at the counter must have been having a tough day. Would have rated at 5 were it not for this.

While we only stayed 1 night, we really liked this hotel. The room with 2 double beds was large, very clean and well lit. Beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was in the restaurant with plenty of seating, actual china plates and real cutlery. No styrofoam or plastic forks here. The food was good. We were hoping to stay a second night but the hotel was full booked. If you have problems with stairs ask for a first floor room as there is no elevator. I have a disability and was quickly accomodated for my request when I realized this.

~7 minutes from downtown. Cosy, clean. The rooms are slightly dated, yet clean and comfortable. Free internet is a big plus. We stayed with a free breakfast promo, and it was great. Good selection of food choices. Didn't have chance to use pool/restaurant so can't comment.

We are just back from a three night stay with a group of a dozen fellow travelers. We met in Tom's Place, the pub attached to the inn and were treated to excellent service from the staff. Up early the next morning for the complementary hot breakfast with a nice selection to meet just about everyone's tastes.

Our room had two large beds and although we found them a bit too soft as we are used to a firm mattress at home. Others in our group raved about how comfortable the beds were, so it is very much a matter of what you are used to I am sure. The rooms were well equipped and clean although our room had stains on the carpet. Friday and Sunday nights it was nice and quiet, but Saturday night it got noisy as folks drifted in early in the morning. The rooms are well equipped with everything you would expect in a better motel, including an excellent television with a wide selection of channels on offer.

We did not use it, but there is a nice outdoor pool with a privacy fence and others in the group who did use it were complementary.

We were guests here many years ago and had good memories of our stay. We were not disappointing this time and would not hesitate to stay here again in the future. In fact, plans are already being formed for the group to return again next year.

One thing management needs to address is the card access at the east entrance. Our key card worked only once with the first card and never worked wit a replacement. Other guests had the same problem. It is a small thing, but is the sort of thing management needs to keep an eye on and it can be quite annoying, especially it it happens to be raining!

For $170, our family of 4 booked 2 Q beds back in April and though the place is clearly dated, it was clean and comfortable and in a great location (we had a car) to go to downtown easily. Staff were polite but wouldn't give us an upgrade when asked -- I figured why not ask since I read all these reviews on how they give upgrades but realized now that it seems to be only offered to couples or business folk. Beds were really soft and the a/c was loud. Watch out for the top step for the second floor--it clearly is a bit off-kilter and i kept losing my balance whenever going down the stairs. (No elevators here.) Although I enjoyed the fireplace and leather sofa at one end of our room, the tv placement in front of one bed and not fixed between both beds (because desk is placed at foot of beds between them) was awkward. The hotel location is very close to supermarkets and there are mini-fridges in the room (both great aspects when you have kids in tow) The buffet breakfast is exceptional (sausages, scrambled eggs, make-your-own waffles, etc.) but you feel like you are in someone's old library. The free wifi worked well. But I think there may be better (more modern) hotels in the area for the same price so I am tempted to stay elsewhere next time...

My husband and I decided to get away for the weekend and was very happy that I chose this hotel. An outdoor swimming pool and garden patio this is a one stop hotel. We had drinks in the hotel, Tom's Place and then a fabulous dinner at Bistro's Stefan. The room itself on the third floor (no elevators) is huge, large Jacuzzi bath, separate to the bathroom and a huge bedroom, and bar area. I was quite pleased to have a bottle of bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries in the room as well! The next day we each had a voucher for breakfast, it could have been either the buffet or a la carte. A great hotel a little older but it is clean and in great shape with very hospitable staff.
