“Very Good Hotel for Short Stays (Business or Pleasure)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

I feel the need to start this review by mentioning the fact that this hotel likely has the single most comfortable mattresses (my opinion) in Canada. Other than that, the hotel is quite new and clean, conveniently located and offer has great promotions. In addition, the value for the price can't be beat. The main reason I have held back from a perfect score is the front desk staff. Although they are quick to get you checked in and out, they aren't overly willing to help you out too much. Often I am suggested to "just Google it" or "use my GPS". I will certainly continue to stay at this hotel regularly when in Kingston, ON. Last week was my 6th stay in 4 months...

Room Tip: All rooms are fairly equal at this hotel. You can't really go wrong.

CourtyardMarriottGM, General Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, responded to this review, November 12, 2012
Greetings from Kingston,

Thank you very much for your review! We are pleased to hear that you find our beds so comfortable. That is, afterall, a very important part of the hotel expereince.

I am sorry to hear that our Guest Services Associates were not overly helpful when it came to your requests. I can assure you, this is not indictive of the high level of service that we strive to provide each and every guest. It is quite disappointing and disconcerting to hear that a guest request was handled in this unprofessional manner.

As a direct result of your comments, we have taken the effort to re-train all of our Guest Services Associates in a one on one scenario on how to properly and professionally respond to all guest requests. While we do train our staff on a regular basis, it seems that we had temporarily forgotten why we are here. That is, to service our guests.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. It allows us to improve on our shortcomings and make every guest stay as great as it can be, continuing to secure our placement as a top Kingson Hotel.

We do hope to see you return, and please accept our promise that our high level of service execution will match and exceed your expectations.

Until next time,

Safe & Happy travels.

Matthew P. Fry

We stopped here on a Friday night trek on the way to Ottawa for thanksgiving. The lobby is lovely and very up to date. The room had two queens and exceeded our expectations. We will definitely use as a stop over on our way to visit our son.

Nice hotel just off the 401. Very good value for Kingston, where hotels are fairly expensive, and less than a 10 minute drive downtown. I was impressed with a notice in the elevator advising that the restaurant would only be open limited hours for breakfast on the day we arrived because of a large group, and inviting guests for complimentary Starbucks coffee and pastries instead. The hotel is located inside the discount shopping mall (a nice mall, not sleazy) and walking distance from Boston Pizza and Swiss Chalet, and has a nice restaurant itself - not really a restaurant, since it is counter service only, but with nice places to sit. Rooms are bright and large, with small fridges and microwaves. I'd go back.

Stayed at this hotel on Aug 29/2012. We just wanted to get away from Toronto and wanted to spend a night at Kingston. This hotel location is excellent, close to the shopping mall, restaurants, close to the highway.
The staff were very good. We could not carry our luggage to our room. The girl at the reception was very nice to call the maintenance staff to help us out to take the luggage to our room. The room was excellent clean, the washroom was clean and nice, very well maintained. The bed was comfortable. Had a nice stay.

We recently stayed one night at the Courtyard by Marriott Kingston. The hotel is 2 years old, very modern and clean. The rooms are beautifully designed and decorated. The beds are extremely comfortable. The pool, water slide, and spa were clean and a lot of fun!! The main reception/lobby/dining area were very tastefully done. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. They even found my wife's one lost sock that I dropped!! We have our next visit reserved all ready!!

Nice new hotel. Close to highway and to shopping. Inviting bar area. The hotel would make a good location to stay if you are visiting the thousand islands, thus avoiding to motels in Gananoque.
Staff was helpful in this hotel. Breakfast was reasonable.
