The food at Culantro was wonderful, tasty, wonderfully different and we will definitely be visiting the restaurant to try another one of the authentic Peruvian dishes again. Loved it. Thank you

“First time to try Peruvian dishes, yummy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

Thanks to tripadvisor and other's comments, we ordered the Enplandes of chicken and beef, which is so good. The steak with some vinegar tasted so so so so great!
So pity they did not have shrimp and half chicken that day.
We enjoyed the meal a lot and also the fresh purple corn juice

“great new restaurant in hamilton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

I have visited the restaurant on 2 occasions. The premises are very clean, the first time most tables were full for lunch on the 2nd, 3 tables were occupied. The owner is very friendly and informative. on my 1st visit, i had the carne empanadas, they were freshly made and the fillings were fresh & tasty. on my 2nd visit had the chicken. This is by far one of the best roasted chickens i have ever had in Hamilton, maybe the best. The chicken was very juicy & the skin had been roasted so well that the skin was crispy, with a fruit & spice taste. Had the sweet potato fries & quinoa salad which were also excellent. The chicken came with 3 tasty sauces, my favourite was the mint mayo sauce. Also a selection of freshly made juices were available, loved the tamarind & also tried the inca kola, which tastes like cream soda but not as sweet. Prices are very reasonable for quantity & quality. Will be returning and sending friends over here.

“peruvian experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Dropped by this little restaurant and was pleasantly surprised with authentic freshly made food. They have a small menu of very well made dishes at a very fair price and the specials change during the week so we will have to go back to try more. Their empanadas were the best I've tasted, and I wanted to lick the dish that the steak meal came on. The owner/chef came out to talk with us and share his experience as well as having us try/sample some of their offerings - great fellow - let's all support this restaurant.

“Peruvian gem in Hamilton arts-business district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Oh my gosh! That's what I felt as I tasted the exquisitely simple, yet complex, Peruvian food at Culantro.
This small eatery has a focused menu that allows the newcomer, as well as experienced world traveler, to experience interesting taste sensations from Peru.
I had a shrimp seviche and empanadas of chicken and of beef during my recent visit. The seviche was perfectly done with the sweetness of the shrimp coming through the tartness of the lime, cillantro and onion. A top dress of toasted multi-color corn kernels gave a zing in the mouth. The empanadas had the flakiest home-made crust ever and the fillings were distinct in their flavorings, yet never overpowering the chicken or the beef. A side of fried yuca rounded out the delightful flavors.
Do try the purple corn beverage - no starchy flavors here, just a gently sweet fruitiness with a very slight anise undertone.
Hope I get the chance to visit Hamilton again, as Culantro will be at the top of my list for a lunch or early dinner.
