“Nothing to brag about”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We just stayed one night and booked two rooms. Our room was not very comfortable. Air conditioning was not working properly and bed was uncomfortable. Front desk staff was friendly. Nothing to brag about as far as their breakfast. Just average.

This is an old Journey's End property and not much has changed since 1992. There are still smoking rooms at this hotel and the hallways reeked of smoke. The lobby was small, as was the breakfast room. Breakfast was modest but I got a bowl of cereal and slice of toast so I was pleased. For ~$100 I would expect more.

Stayed for a couple of nights... what I expected. Very clean room, especially bathroom. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice desk and chair for emails, larger screen LCD TV was a nice touch. Friendly/fast check in and out. Continental breakfast left little to be desired... basically beverages, dry cereal and toast. All and all a good value and a good stay. Would not hesitate to book again.

My husband and I often choose Choice Hotels when we are working. This one had one room that was a King Suite and we were able to book it online. We found this site to be somewhat noisier than usual. As it turned out there was a soccor tournament on and the hotel had a bus load of young students in it. The most annoying noise was not from the students though. You could NOT close doors quietly no matter how hard you tried. People's voices also seemed to carry through the walls more so, even when just chatting quietly. The street noise of traffic and people outside smoking also travelled in more so in this hotel.

We had to be in the Golden Horseshoe for a family funeral and needed a place to rest our weary bones at night. The Comfort Inn met that need well. Our room was clean as was the bathroom. The room was a little cramped for space, but we just needed a place to sleep after all. There was a bar fridge on the desk which made using the desk almost impossible, but we managed. It would have been nice to have a comfy chair to sit in, but...we just needed a place to sleep.

The breakfast room was closed during the time we were there, but trays were provided so that we could take our breakfast choices to our room to eat. That worked out fine. The selection was typical - cereal, bagels, bread, muffins, juice and hot beverages. Nothing special and the bagels had obviously spent some time in the freezer beforehand. Still, the breakfast was adequate.

All staff with whom we dealt were friendly, knowledgeable and caring.

Would we stay here again? Probably, but not for an extended period of time. A day or two is fine.

I'll admit that the Comfort Inn wasn't my first choice of hotels, but we were in town during the "Around the Bay 30K Run", and rooms were hard to come by. However, I'm happy to say that the Comfort Inn certainly exceeded my expectations!

The room, while dated, was clean and had a nice flat screen TV, microwave, and refrigerator. The bathroom and linens were very clean. I'd like to see them replace the carpeting, as it is obviously aging.

What's outstanding about this hotel is their staff. I'd originally booked our room online, and only smoking rooms were available. Then, a couple of days before our trip, I received a call from Kerri, offering me a non-smoking room, which I jumped at. I've never had a hotel call to offer me an upgrade in advance like this, and I appreciated it very, very much. At check-in, Kerri and her colleague (I'm sorry I didn't get her name!) were bright, friendly, and knowledgeable. They gave our young daughter her own key to the room, which she loved. Even the attendant at the continental breakfast was friendly, chatting with us, and they'd obviously gone out of their way to customize the breakfast for all the runners in town.

The only downside to this hotel for us was that it was far from downtown Hamilton, but while I was expecting traffic chaos because of the run, we were pleasantly surprised at how easily we were able to get around. Other than that, their location is great, within a 2km range we found Starbucks, Boston Pizza, East Side Mario's, malls, etc.

Thanks again, Comfort Inn!
