I am determined that the next time we have a number of gray days in a row, I will attend the Butterfly Conservatory and just sit in the glass butterfly house and bask in the tropical weather. It is an opportunity to take a break to a Southern climate without leaving the area. To breathe the fresh air of the tropical plants and trees and to feel the warmth on your skin is calming. The conservatory provides a quite place of respite with the magic of the butterflies all around. To sit and be still is the best way to lose yourself in this wonderful place. The butterflies provide beauty in amongst the plants. So much fun to watch them flit from plant to plant but also take a moment to look deep into the foliage to see if you can spot some resting quietly on branches. Throughout the conservatory you will find benches for rest spots, a small water feature and a learning centre where if you are lucky there will be butterflies opening up and beginning their new lives. It isn't a large space but so worth the visit. In addition to the butterfly house there is a museum that covers everything from stick bugs, moths to a live bee colony. Purchase something in the gift shop to remember your visit and stop for some refreshment in the cafeteria style restaurant. Couples, families, even teens and seniors will enjoy.
