“Awful customer service from management”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

My friends and I went to celebrate 2 birthdays. It had been planned for months as all of us have babies and we don't get girls night out very often. When making a reservation, we called 4 times and got no answer so finally left a vm with our reservation request just as the instructions told us to do so. Needless to say we showed up and were greeted with rude hostesses that told us since we didn't receive a phone call back we didn't have a reservation and we could wait and IF there was a no show in an hour and a half we could then get a table. We asked to speak to a manager.....Who was unapologetic, and seemed annoyed by the whole situation. He set up a makeshift bar table for us and said he would see what he could do. He then proceeded to come back to our table to let us know that he really trusts his hostesses and that one of them called us back and left a message to let us know we didn't have a reso and that our phone must not work properly........#1 rule in customer service you don't make it the customers problem nor do you blame them. Your cockiness and arrogance was not appreciated. Needless to say we then asked to speak to The GM who was not helpful at all and just ignored us.....so we left and went and had a wonderful dinner elsewhere. I would NEVER return to Spencer's again as u would rather spend my $ elsewhere.

“The view is breathtaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

And after 5 years of being in the business, Spencer’s is still going strong. The menu changes with the seasons focusing on local organic ingredients from the Golden Horseshoe area. I always order a side of seasonal vegetables with my meal. Today i’m having a burger, made with dry aged beef, black truffle, mushroom, and Québec brie; looks gorgeous and tastes even better. Oven roasted Nova Scotia lobster with garlic butter, spinach, hollandaise, and French fries is always a safe bet when you are undecided about what to eat; lobster meat is so sweet with just the right texture. On Sundays the champagne brunch includes signature menu items as well as a wonderful selection of salads and seafood. You must go and see for yourself because it’s the most fun you will have at a brunch in Burlington. The chocolate fountain on the dessert table is surrounded by fruit, cookies and house-made marshmallows that will keep you coming back all afternoon.

“Super spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Spencer’s has a great location on the water with parking immediately close by. The fireplace gives it a cozy atmosphere on a cold day. They have a really nice menu selection with good portions and overall excellent food. This is one of the more sophisticated restaurants in Burlington with a matching price point. Everything is fresh. We are giving it a strong recommendation for a great dinner and we will be back.

“New layout for brunch is poor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013 via mobile

My friends and I often go to Spencer's for brunch to celebrate birthdays and always enjoy the food and ambiance. On our last visit in January a large part of the buffet was moved to an area outside the restaurant proper. This forced diners to go through a narrow breezeway where people arriving and leaving we're putting on their coats. Also, some of the buffet was far down an adjoining room and we actually missed it. I suspect this was done to squeeze in more diners. We will not be going back.

“Good but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Food was excellent. Service was not overly attentive and we felt dollar for dollar it was expensive for what we got
