“To be or ... not to be...Gray Goose?”
That is the question .... I'm asking myself each time I'm getting my Martini at Jake's. The Gray Goose French vodka has such a peculiar taste that I love and ... expect. Other than that the restaurant is above average, nevertheless not exceptional, especially for main courses. However the chowder is excellent, way better than Sam's in Half Moon Bay, I.e. near San Francisco (unjustifiably classified as one of the best in the world). I dare any Californian to take the challenge and have chowder at Jake's. Well.. that's all. Oysters are average and the rest of seafood is quite good but not something to remember. Anyway, one of the few Seafood restaurants in Burlington, midway between the affluent Oakville and the industrial Hamilton. That can be reflected in the overcrowded parking lot when your last spot is between a Lamborghini Aventador and a Nissan Sentra. Worth a few visits. In summer it is not that crowded but outside that, you definitely need a reservation for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. While service can many times be quite lethargic, the reservation is honored always at the promised time; the table is always ready, menus on the plate. Probably they are just one server and one chef short of a great restaurant. And if you made it there, take a coffee to go and drive yourself after dinner to the new Burlington pier on Brandt St.
