“The best fish and chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We love the haddock and chips and mushy peas and a pint of beer. The food is consistently good and the service very personable We eat there about once a month.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

Thistle was recommended to us by a friend. Very disappointed. Had the fish and chips (haddock). Possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever had. The crust on the fish was soggy and far too greasy. It left a thick film of grease in my mouth, fish was tough, chips were cold and lardy. Three of us had the same meal and three meals ended up in the compost bin. Not sure if it was a bad batch or an off night but we won't be going back.

“Average Fish, soggy undercooked chips, & tarter sauce in a heinz package”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

After several people telling us to try the Thistle for Fish & Chips we finally gave it a try. As an east-coaster my standard for fish & chips is pretty high. The fish pieces were quite large, & lightly battered which was good. The chips were undercooked, and soggy, & at $96 for dinner for 4 people I was shocked to see 5 cent heinz tarter sauce. Tarter sauce is not hard to make btw.

It is surprising to me that people were lined up out the door. Shows that Burlington needs a great Fish & Chip Shop.

Don't think it was worth the $96.

“You'll love the fish and chips”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

I've heard it said that people drive from far and wide to have fish and chips at The Thistle in Burlington, Ontario. I don't doubt it for a minute. The food is excellent and so is the wait staff.
