“Adequate accommodations for a night's stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2010

Very average hotel. It was fine, but absolutely nothing special. Double rooms were double beds (not queens); bed linens were of the icky-bedspread-you-pull-off-immediately-because-who-knows-when-it-was-last-washed variety; TV was large but not flatscreen; continental breakfast included fresh-from-frozen fruit salad, yogurt, cereal, rolls. Decor was definitely dated but not ancient. Free wifi, but it required a login code, and once my husband logged in with his laptop, I could not log in with my iPhone. Annoying. Why do hotels do this? Are there lots of people skimming wifi in Brantford, ON? Seems overly securityish to me, but whatever.

Overall: fine. Really. Not to complain. It was clean, the beds were comfortable enough, there was a little coffeemaker in the room. Just nothing to write home about.

This hotel was about the cheapest available to us at the time of booking, so we had pretty basic expectations. However we were pleasantly surprised.
The free breakfast buffet was excellent with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, all kinds of breads, muffins... eat as much as you like. You could upgrade to cooked breakfast for $5 but we didn't feel we needed to - and we like a BIG breakfast!
The best part though was the bed.... it was by far the most comfortable bed my husband and I have ever slept in, and we have stayed in very pricey hotels both here and in Europe.

Pros: Good hotel, pleasant and friendly front office staff (a special thank you to Shandi), spacious and clean room (loved the patio), comfortable bed and pillows. Great facilities - pool, sauna and hot tub.

Cons: The TV was a bit of a let down; distorted image (due to the number of viewers in each room?), but okay in the morning. The breakfast at Kirby's was good; not Brenda, one of the waitresses though (who should be considered for a crash course in customer service, or fired). She fussed over sharing of hot breakfast that my eight year old was wasting in any event; asserted that she should be charging for two!! No replenishment of coffee or juice!!

Upon arrival the staff was very helpful and courteous. The rooms are spacious and clean. Coffee and tea is provided in the room. There is a pool with spa and a work out room. The attached restaurant and bar were convenient and not over priced. Staff was great. Close to shopping and tourist attractions only about 1 hour from Toronto. A family friendly place at a great price. I would defiantly recommend the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for one night while in the area for tournament. We were greeted by friendly helpful staff and offered an upgraded room that was available. The room was very comfortable and quiet, even though the hotel was full of families with children which I'm sure weren't always quiet. The only downside to the room was that it was a non-smoking room but it smelled of smoke. I actually noticed another non-smoking room as I was walking down a hallway that was being use as a gathering spot for a group of people. The door was left open and cigarette smoke was coming from the room. This seems to be something that they could pay more attention to and enforce a little better. Non smokers do not appreciate a smokey room. The swimming pool was quite nice. The water was warm and the pool was a good size for a hotel. Breakfast in the morning was a hot buffet ( an extra $5 if you don't want the included continental breakfast). This breakfast was the best buffet breakfast I have had in a long time. It had an omlette bar, bacon, sausage, french toast etc. Everything you would expect. We were quite happy with this hotel and would return again. We were in the new Walter Gretzky wing which seemed alot nicer that the older part of the hotel. When I booked this hotel I was able to get a cheaper rate by calling the reservation number than the rate that was offered to me online.

We were visiting relatives for thanksgiving and we arrived late, the room was held for us. And we are so glad they did it was beautiful. After a night of festivities and turkey, we fell into bed. Wow so comfortable I could of slept till Christmas. The room was huge, we go to disney every year and stay at the moderate hotels and this room was bigger than those. I love the comforters,so warm. Just like the people working there, Smiles everywhere. Our room was in a hallway that you needed your door key to enter, very important because hockey season is starting. I have a teenager and nothing bothers a sleep more than overly excited parents and kids coming and going all hours. One of the best ideas we have come across in our travels.... Locked hallways. The continental Breakfast came with the room and we upgraded to the hot breakfast for 5$ each, great deal. Would we go there again.... You Betcha

I've stayed at Best Westerns before and they are normally ok but this hotel was above average for a few reasons
Pro: Clean rooms; nice breakfast buffet with omelet station; good indoor pool; friendly staff; Plenty of parking; I stayed in an upgraded room that you could only get to through a locked hallway (supposedly to keep the kids from running through) which had a fireplace.
Con: The hotel appears to be a collection of several hotels all strung together over the years. The rooms are all over the place and I felt like I walked a mile to get to my room; The workout facility is about half the size of a normal room which is SMALL. The equipment worked well enough.
