“Awasome Place...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I have visited this place in Feb'2013 with my wife. It's a bungalow of the Managing Director of Zurrantee Tea Estate, which has been transformed into a Heritage Resort. The Environment is very refreshing and isolated from annoying crowd, surrounded by green lashed tea garden. This will take you to the era of British Empire, a more than hundred years old bungalow keeps its aroma intact. If you like to spend some quality time with your loved one, this is the ideal place for you. Just seating beside a tea garden in the evening and till late night with charm your mind like you might never felt before.
The lawns are maintained nice, and a there is a nice badminton court also. Drawing room is having all amenities required including a snooker board, chess, TV etc. and is decorated with some antique items. Staffs are very helpful, and the chef is just awesome.
Overall a Great experience.

A lovely place with lovely view of the tea gardens. The room we took was a suite and was spacious. The maintanance was neat and clean. A guide was given on all the trips. Before we went safety was our prime concern as the area apparently had political disturbances. But once we reached such concerns simply disappeared. The tag line says Zurrantee your second home and it actually felt like that. The tea pot was always full, the room service prompt, the food delicious and no cause for complaints. The trips were planned well, spaced out and wherever we turned we saw smiling faces. The location was soothing and lovely and only a two hours drive from NJP station. The dance of the locals arranged on one evening was absolutely beautiful and rhythmic. It was the focal point of the stay.

The cons .. They can equip the waiting area with washrooms to make it even better. We reached before the check out time and the day we arrived all the rooms were full and the wait became little uncomfortable. Also one more point was we overheard guests negotiating on bills and asking for rebates 10% and 15% and the manager further negotiating and granting them. So it did make us feel whether we paid more by accepting the price as offered to us through email.

On two seperate day trips to Samsing an Garumara, we saw the beautiful Forest Department Bunglows at Santhale Khola with mountanous streams , forest and hills and the Garumara forest reserve bunglows that nestles just in the tip of the forest. The beauty of a manmade tea estate can not compete with the beauty of God made forests and mountains.

Room Tip: We took the suite - Moorti that had two bedrooms. But we suggest only choose Moorti if you have need...

What will we do in a tea estate ? We will get bored......those were the questions I had to ans.to my kids. But once we reached there from Jaladapara WLS they were spellbound. Not only did they have huge rooms with A/C but an equally big garden to play.......not to forget the pool table,chess board, lots of magazines badminton set, and our faithful loyal companion.....the T.V !!!! [ thank god only one set of TV in the common living room--or else how will we appreciate the beauty of this place ???}
They take u to true British Era.....complete with the service,politeness,and even asking u what time u want bed tea....literally in ur bed !!! The food is mouthwatering with unlimited portions......mind ur weight !!! All the staff is helpful , courteous. A sp.thanks to Mr.Anup who arranged the tribal dance for us..even though it was a Sunday...for no extra cost !!! We had taken 2 rooms since we were 2 adults and 3 kids. They also take u to visit the tea factory.
The people here love us and that shows in their welcome.........A nice place to relax,rewind,rejuvante,revitalize...........

Room Tip: Rongdong is the best room with ample lighting & the most spacious of all the 4 rooms. All th...

I had been there in Feb'2011 with my family. It's an old heritage tea bungalow tastefully refurbished & decorated by Solution Inc. keeping old aroma intact. Room & bathroom are extra large and I am sure no hotel can provide that size of bathroom. Drawing room & Snooker room is also decorated with antique decorative items. Dining place is also too big. Food quality & service is awesome. If anyone want to take little rest from daily schedule, this is an ideal place, just see lush green tea garden, sip garden fresh tea, walk on adjacent manicured field. Road from Metali to Zurrantee is narrow & not so good. But both side of the road is tea garden. Overall experience is extremely pleasant.

booked through the internet and really did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised and happy at the service we got from the people at Zurrantee. An airconditioned car was waiting to pick us up and the driver was friendly. Roads were not that good and we reached Zurrantee in the evening to find some really good tea and biscuits waiting for us. We stayed in Rongdong and the room was quite big and comfortable. We were the only people staying as it was an off season for them and the staff it seemed was always at our beck and call. The meals were all very tasty and we were served more than we could have. The lawns and the estate are maintained well but one should not compare it to hotels. The surroundings are very peaceful and I think we got more than our money's worth. Trips to samsing and labha were arranged by them at no extra cost and we were also treated to a nice cultural dance programme involving the local tribals. I shall definitely want to visit again for a short getaway from the city. Groups and families shall also like the place as the lawn is a nice place for badminton and the games room too is quite nice. Only grouse is that we would have appreciated a tv in the room after darkness. To sum up the pros and cons i would say excellent location, good service and food, friendly staff, value for money and the only con would be the manager at the resort, a guy called Ashish, but then he is hardly around

Room Tip: stay in rong dong as its has natural light and is the smallest at around 300 sq ft as the ac is most...

its the prefect holiday getaway if you're looking for solitude and peace want to escape the din and bustle of the busy metropolitan life. If sitting on the porch of a quaint little cottage, overlooking lush green tea plantations ,sipping tea and reading a book left to your own quiet musings is what you crave for then this is just the place you've been looking for. Nestled right on top of a hill, Zurrantee is more of a Cozy home stay rather than a luxurious holiday home. Do not expect 5 Star hotel style treatment or pampering here though the staff and the manager were very simple, friendly and helpful people. They do arrange for local sight seeing also the children from the nearby villages entertain you with folk songs and dance. The meals prepared by the cook was really delicious and one evening he even made us pakoras made from tea leaves... a first time and they were really mouth wateringly delectable.Loved the place, loved the atmosphere the view ,, can't wait to be back.

We had a wonderful experience at the Bungalow. We had booked four rooms for two couples plus kids, unfortunately my sister and her husband missed their flight from Delhi. Zurrantee charged us for only one room! Very friendly. The evening entertainment was very good. Staff was very hospitable. If you go to a place like this, make sure to stay for a few days at least.
