“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

We had our valentines dinner there this year and it was sublime. The owner/chef was at it's best. I would have ate 2 more soip but good thing we didn't do so cause the entree was huge and delicious (sea food bowl). Then the main arrived and i was already full, it was a enormous veal shop with a side of a meat and potatoe tarte and a veggie on the side. Evrything was tasty and great. You have to try this!

“Un Diner Magnifique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

A successful trip to Belleville always includes a visit to l'Auberge, whether for a Saturday coffee and croissant, a midweek lunch of salad and a delicious sandwich, a weekday "Chef's Table" communal dinner or a special date night.

Last night we enjoyed a spectacular Valentine meal- 4 delicious courses with gorgeous wine pairings. A sublime duck soup with fresh fig to start, leeks with lobster and shrimp in a pastry shell, monk fish with house cured bacon, beets, a mousse of beet greens served over polenta, and for dessert, a romantic chocolate ganache valentine with macarons not normally seen outside of Paris!

Mention has been made on this site of slow service. That has never been our experience. This food is meant to be savoured and the pacing has always been appropriate. On occasions when we have been pressed for time, a quick word to Jean-Marc ensures that our meal is served quickly.

We in the Belleville/ Prince Edward County area are so fortunate to have a chef like Jean- Marc in our neighbourhood.

“From a foodie: worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

I come from Quebec and have travelled extensively. You can't judge a restaurant by the portion sizes. Quality is of prime importance. L'Auberge respects quality. I have found the ratings of restaurants, generally, out of whack here in Belleville. A good restaurant seems to be cheap and have large portions. That concept is a little off. I would have to say the food at l'Auberge to be of superior quality. The ingredients are fresh, the portions prepared on the spot and the quality to price ratio is reasonable (this is where I would perhaps deduct one star of five). Given the uniqueness of this restaurant in a sea of chains, I will gladly pay more. While no restaurant is perfect, I believe this restaurant should be ranked much higher but will never be because the price range cannot compete with the chains. If you're looking for authentic cuisine, ignore the lower ranking and go to L'Auberge.

“Ok not to level I expected”

Small portions big price for what you are served. It was lunch so maybe the portions were smaller than my appetite. Might go back but no hurry.

“A Wonderful Taste of France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I have been to this restaurant in Belleville many times and each time it is wonderful. There has never been a visit where I have not been delighted with the selection, the taste and the ambiance of this perfect little restaurant in Belleville, Ontario. I am so happy that the chef/owner decided that this is where he wanted to be. The lunch selection from sandwiches, quiches, soups and salads is unmatched and the desserts are mouth-watering. There is also a chef's table in the evening a couple of times a month and now evening meals served too. The croissants available on Saturday mornings melt in your mouth and are worth getting there early to pick some up to take home or to eat there with one of their specialty coffees. In addition, there is also a deli/cheese counter, fresh baked goods and imported groceries such as salts and olive oils. If you ever have the chance to go to Belleville, go downtown and enjoy a taste of France.
