“On our way to Ottawa...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

This was a good stop for our trip to Ottawa. It was just off the 401. We were looking for a clean hotel with decent beds and that is what we received. The staff at the reception were fast and courteous and when asked offer local places to eat and a walk by the water was suggested. The waterfront was not too far away and after a long drive it was nice to be able to walk around the nice parks. The hotel was not fancy, but the room was clean and the king bed was very comfortable. Only downside was the lack of an elevator since we were on the second floor. Since we were travelling for the week, our big suitcases were a bit heavy to lug up the stairs. The free breakfast offered was the average self serve hotel breakfast but it helped to start the day. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I am travelling this way.

Dear AdventuresWithAlice,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Our guest feedback is very valuble to us and is greatly appreciated. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and pleased that we provided good service and recommendations. We are also pleased to provide a clean and comforable room and strive for this everyday. We do understand that the lack of elevator can be inconvenient and do our very best to provide a first floor rooms as much as we can and try to help with luggage every chance we can. I am sorry that we didn't help you with that and will be happy to do so when you stay with us again.

Everything we do is aimed at providing you with an exceptional hotel experience. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us so we may always continue to improve.

Sincerely,
Ashley Plews

The layout of this hotel is very odd with separate buildings. The lobby is weird with a lower front desk at the main entrance and a raised section behind a wall. The layout is unfriendly. Décor and cleanliness is average. My room had an unfinished paint job on the back of the washroom door - very sloppy quality control. No outlets by the TV to connect computer or other device.

Friendly staff and decent breakfast. Coffee fair at best. Generally way overpriced for small town lodging and nothing special or interesting about the place. Lots of restaurants around in walking distance.

I stayed here as a business traveller recently. The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast included a variety of options and was included in the room charge which is great. It is right off the highway and close to several restaurants. The rooms are very modern (not sure about the comments some have made about needing a retrofit, I stay at a lot of hotels and this one was just fine). They are also large, lots of sitting space. My only request would be to put in an elevator; to get to the second floor you have to go up two sets of stairs, which is a pain when you have luggage. Otherwise, great choice. Would definitely stay again.

Dear Nokes,

Thank you for your feedback and nice comments. We are please you had a great experience and found the staff pleasant and helpful.

Our hotel does not have an elevator and unfortunately there is not way to put one in, believe me, we would if it was possible! We do however try very hard to accommodate our guests in a room that best suites their needs. We have guests who stay with us regularly and have certain rooms they request.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if you prefer 1st floor and we will try our best to accommodate this.

We appreciate your business and hope you will visit us again when you are in the Belleville area. Please call us directly to book your room so we may accommodate your requests.

Sincerely,

We come to Belleville about twice a year for sports tournaments and have stayed at a number of different hotels in the area. The Fairfield Marriott is head and shoulders above the competition: the rooms are newer, updated, clean and spacious, the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful (splitting room bills multiple ways to accommodate team mates sharing), the complimentary breakfast provides a fresh assortment of choices including healthy options, the group booking manager Betty Moon-Rae goes above and beyond to assist in the booking process and to ensure good communications, the hotel is central and conveniently located near shopping and the highway, but yet it is quiet so it is easy to ensure a good night's rest before the next day's events. We will always stay here when in Belleville.

I attended a conference that was held at the Fairfield Inn and I was booked into a room with a king bed. Here are my thoughts:
Location is great, right off Highway 401. Close to lots of shopping, gas stations, drug stores, etc.
Check-in was painless. Staff was very friendly, fast and efficient. Given I had a meeting at 1:00 p.m. and their check-out time was noon, they had no problem giving me a late check-out till 12:30.
Lobby was nice and big for waiting or lounging, upper level was another sitting area with fireplace and where continental breakfast was included.
The room was a good size, kind of a retro design which is not my style. It was nice and clean, had a small fridge and microwave and a desk. Ended up bringing work, so I tested the Wi-fi which was good and fast while I used it. The bathroom was very small and the toilet is the smaller round version as opposed to the oblong style which I find are in most hotels now. The best part was the bed. Very comfortable.
The hotel also has a very large indoor pool area and a small exercise area. I didn't go swimming but there were a few parents and their children enjoying this feature. I used the exercise room. They had the typical LifeFitness treadmills, stationary bike and small universal...everything you need for a quick workout.
The conference room was near the front of the hotel and was very nice. I noted the hotel had ramps, so it is definitely accessible. Overall, I didn't like the retro design but for an overnight stay, it was pretty good.

This was on our route and read well on Trip Advisor and therefore booked. I am sorry to disagree with the popular ratings given below.
It's a soulless, sprawling tired hotel in need of a refit. The bathrooms are ridiculously small, standing for one only and be careful when you open the door. No lift (elevator) and still on analogue TV. The final straw when I pulled the curtains a little too hard we both started sneezing with the dust. Breakfast is just okay.
We left feeling we had gone back in time 15 years but paid in today's money.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know your experience. On behalf of our entire staff, I would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations.

Your satisfaction is important to us and your feedback will be helpful in making improvements to ensure we offer an exceptional experience for our guests in the future.

I have followed up on some of the matters with both the maintenance and housekeeping department to ensure that these issues are fixed and do not happen again.

Unfortunately some of the other issues we can't chanage. The hotel does not have an elevator and some bathrooms are small which I know can be an inconvenience for some of our guests. We are always happy to arrange rooms on the first floor, and also there are some rooms in the hotel that have bigger size bathrooms.

I do hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back the next time you are in this area. We would like to have another chance to provide you with an exceptional service.

Sincerely,
Georgia MacLean

Our grandson's PeeWee hockey team was in OMHA finals in Centre Hastings and we needed a place to stay on the Saturday night. The team had made previous arrangements with the hotel, but we hadn't because if they won the game on Saturday, we could drive the 4 hours back home. But of course they lost, so we needed a room. I have to say I was glad they lost because we found a gem of a hotel. The staff was so helpful and extremely customer savy. Our king room was clean and roomy. Bathroom sparkled. The full hot breakfast was great. We had never stayed at a Fairfield Inn, but it is now on our A list when we travel. Our team didn't play until 4:30PM on Sunday so the hotel gave them one of the conference rooms to use until they had to go to the game which was well past the check out time. Very impressive. The pool was beautiful and the 12 & 13 year old boys loved it. The close proximity to shopping and restaurants made it perfect for the ones that had traveled on the bus. Footnote - We won the OMHA PeeWee all Ontario final on that Sunday so we had lots to celebrate.
