“Summer2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Right next to the Holiday Inn, the Mandarin staff welcome you from the moment that you enter until you leave. I loved everything from the warm washcloths that we recd as soon as we sat down to all the delicious food & dessert (even a great selection of sugar-free)!

“Typical Manadarin Restuarant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

This is the Typical Mandarin Restaurant even though its outside a large metropolitan area. There is not as many Chinese servers but the food is typically the Mandarin Restaurant style.

“Great food! Weird Experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

The food was really good, and there was so much to choose from! That being said, there was a few things that made the whole experience feel kind of weird. While walking us to our table our hostess explained the different sections of the buffet, and pointed out the ATM's because this location doesn't accept debit payment. Then our waitress came to our table and repeated everything the hostess had already told us. We got our first round of food and while eating i noticed our waitress was hovering around our table and would grab our plates before we were even finished swallowing our last bite. No word of lie - our waters were refilled 4 times while eating our first plates. At one point a women came to our table who told us she was one of the owners, she said she wanted to know if we were pleased with our service and the food and gave us her business card. When the owner left our table she moved to the table next to ours and said the same exact spiel, word for word. A short while later I noticed the owner standing off to the side taking a video with her iPhone of our waitress serving a table - she then called the waitress over and got her in trouble for not picking up the drink menu and showing it to the customers. It felt very awkward - I was honestly starting to think that I was on one of those hidden camera shows!!

“Good buffet place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

The good thing about a buffet place is that everybody can pick whichever food that looks appleasing to them, so if you have a picky-eater kid at least you can make sure they won't leave hungry. And this buffet place has enough decent choices to make you want to go at least once.

The bad thing about any buffet place is that the food SITS there, so they get overcooked; and the overall quality of the food cannot compete with those abundant GENUINE Chinese restaurants in Toronto (this is an hour away in Barrie.)

“excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

We were really surprised by the level of service at this location. We've been to Mandarin in GTA area numerous times, but lately were disappointed with service. At Barrie location, except for fresh and tasty food, the staff was amazing. Our waitress, Ellen, was there for us every single moment, adding water, changing napkins and cleaning the plates. We all felt welcome and even were greeted by one of the owners, who came to our table to introduce himself. Thanks for the great mood.
