Description: We are a quaint, soulful, independently owned cafe in the heart of downtown Barrie with a focus on fresh and conscious eating. Open seven days a week we offer a breakfast and lunch menu that strongly emphasizes vegetarian and gluten free options along with locally raised, free range chicken. Everything is made in house including our sandwich bread which is a whole wheat focaccia & our soups which are always made gluten free. The Lazy Tulip vibe is worldly, spiritual & funky. Music is a big part of the atmosphere which ranges from Indian tablas to local musical talent to current faves. We serve Planet Bean coffee, a small micro-roaster from Guelph and it's full flavored, fair trade and certified organic.

“Delicious, natural, healthy food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

The lazy tulip is an amazing breakfast and lunch restaurant in Barrie. The ambiance is very basic yet cute and refreshing. The smoothies are unbelievable and very fresh
And natural. The huevos rancheros were delicious as well as the breakfast wrap. The soups were house made and delicious. Definitely a must!

“Best Breakfast in Barrie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Breakfast in Barrie is generally not for the fainthearted and I was about to consign myself to the kitchen forever; battling with hangovers and eggs benedicts! Fortunately my last roll of the dice brought me to the Lazy Tulip and the home of Huevos Rancheros! This place is super friendly and cozy.. it reminds me of some of the Ex Pat cafe's I would visit on my travels; a real oasis! They have great coffee and the Huevos Rancheros is one of the best I have had north of the border! They have a cute little patio in the summer and it is just a block away from walking off your breakfast at the beautiful lakefront in Barrie. One of these days I will have to get down and try some of their lunch items; as they look like they have fab panini's and sandwiches too!

“Great Place!”

It's cute, it's quiet, it's friendly, everything I could ask for in a cafe! The crepes and cappuccino are always delicious! You also have to try the baked french toast, amazing!

“Real food. Fast and friendly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We were so happy today to find this lovely little cafe with organic coffee, homemade soup, sandwiches and wraps made with free range locally raised chicken in downtown Barrie. Such a relief from all the chain food outlets. The food we ordered was hot, fresh and fast... No excuse to eat prefab fast food when there are great places like this! Only tip is to go for lunch or early dinner (as we did) because they close early, at 4 pm. This place really hit the spot!

Our lunch visit for our family was excellent. Loved the fresh food, friendly staff & great location close to the lake. Pictures in the cafe of the owners travels allowed for good conversation. A gem in Barrie!
