“Cool”

If you're into this kind of thing it's definitely worth the trip. Very cool and interesting to walk through. Makes for some truly stunning pictures as well.

“A very interesting walk...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Some of the headstones are hard to read, but really worth a half hour of your time. Lots of history, but it would be nice to have more info provided about the cemetary and the people buried there. Glad I went.

“Very Old!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

If you like history this is a great place - it takes time to walk through and try and read all the gravestones - lots are unreadable but very interesting -

“Very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

A walk thru a cemetary can be a very interesting thing to do and it certainly gives you a great view into the past of the town. This was such a fascinating cemetary with very interesting stones and locations from the imigrants that settled in Halifax.

“The Major General, who burned the White House lies buried here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

Major General Robert Ross lies buried here, after being pickled in 129 gallons of Jamaican Rum. His body was to be returned to Ireland, in 1814. But the "H.M.S.Tonnant" was diverted elsewhere and he was interred at the Old Burying Ground. Here also, is the Welsford-Parker Monument dedicated to the Nova Scotian heroes of the Crimean War. Some of the interesting graves are epigraph on the Lawson children's tombstone and the Free Mason symbolism on Abner Stowell's tombstone. This small cemetery is a short walk uphill from the cruise ship. A tour guide is available in the cemetery for tours.
Hope this is helpful, and you enjoy your visit.
