“Very interesting place in summer, otherwise it is dead”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2012

Busy place in summer, lots of tourists and stuff going on. Walk the whole boardwalk with many interesting things to see - shops and places to eat. You can find local artisan works and unique stuff here, but it will not be cheap.

After September the place folds up for the winter. Many shops are closed and few visitors except for locals who are going to restaurants. Winter time it will be cold and usually very windy. Reopens again in late spring.

Great to go here to get the latest fashions in Downtown Halifax or to eat at one of the eatreies in the centre of Historic Properties

“A Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

The boardwalk along the harbour with all the great eateries and souvenir shops is truly entertaining and, the view of the harbour here is the best in Halifax; a great place to spend a day without too much walking

“If you are staying at the Marriott...go to Privateer's Wharf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2010

We were staying at the Marriott for a conference. The highlight of the conference was actually the food at The Lower Deck Beer Market, part of Privateer's Wharf at the adjacent Historic Properties. While the Marriott ostensibly charges for WiFi (actually, it's free - just get the code from the front of the house staff...) the Beer Market doesn't and you can drink and eat yummy food at the same time as checking your work email. The food is good, the drinks - well, are alcohol-based, and the view is lovely. The Beer Market is a good place to call home if you are at the Halifax Marriott!
