“Worth every penny!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2009

We stayed for 3 nights right after Hurricane Bill passed through and had a wonderful time. We were in the main building in a very large room with a Jacuzzi. The boys were thrilled to have their own cots. Regarding the noise concerns, the hallway does seem to carry sound but inside the room it wasn't an issue. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was included and was delicious. Although the internet access seemed to be down most of the time and was very slow when it was working, it wasn't a big issue for us. The kids enjoyed the New Brunswick Museum presentation. I hope we are able to return one day!

We had a lovely time at the Digby Pines with our 3 kids. The 2 bedroom cabin was comfortable and had a great breakfast that was included. Great value!

My husband and I wanted to make reservations to join our friends for a get-away week-end.

The website showed that there were no reservations available on Friday but we thought there might have been cancellations so we phoned the 1-800 number once on a Friday night and then, the next day, 4 times at different time intervals. Each time, we received a lengthy option of choices – one of which was to reach ‘reservations’. We did choose that and on each occasion when we phoned, we were prompted to leave our phone number for a call-back. There was no option to phone the front desk or to speak with a live person.

We needed a confirmation by voice – from a real live person – before we left home. We did not wish to take a chance on someone not calling us back in time for us to drive to Digby only to find that there was, indeed, no space available.

We were looking for the ‘couples weekend package’. Since we were unable to speak with a human, we decided not to make the trip (if no accommodations were available, we would have had to start searching for other accommodations at the last minute and we did not find this acceptable.)

Another note: apparently, the price quoted on the internet was also not correct - our friends paid less.

I really believe that if Digby Pines is at all interested in customer service and if the Pines wants to increase their tourism dollars, they are missing the boat. Tourists arriving on the Yarmouth ferry will be unlikely to choose to stay at the Pines when they are unable to immediately contact someone to confirm a reservation.

Our friends had a lovely stay but they indicated that only a dozen or so stayed for supper and only about 25 or so for breakfast today - Sunday morning. There would have been lots of room for us.We are completely unhappy with the reservation service and want to tell others of their short-comings so that nothers might not be similarly disappointed.

Stayed here while going whale watching on Briar Island. Beautiful property overlooking the Bay of Fundy. They even threw in a free breakfast. Only problem... no internet in room.

Beautiful resort but our room was way too small . It got very cold at night and we were told the heat was unavailable .They said they would get a heater for us but were unable to locate one .We had to drive to Walmart to purchace a small heater ourselves .
We really enjoyed the waterfront in Digby and plan to return to the area .However we will look for other accomadations .

The grounds at The Pines are amazingly well kept and beautiful. The hotel is grand...when you approach it you are taken back by how beautiful it is.

The atmosphere is a bit stuffy and it seems to attract older visitors and the upper class. We were looking for a more relaxed location. There is a pool onsite, tennis court, golfing and a fine dine restaurant & lounge. We did not use any of these facilities. We chose to eat at a more casual restaurant in downtown Digby.

The room was EXTREMELY small with a very old attached bath. Although clean, it was very small to comfortably stay in. We were also not pleased with the air conditioning as we were there during a hot spell and they do not allow guests to lower the temp below 19 degrees. It was a very hot day and we were on the sunset side of the building so the room heated up quite a bit. The windows in the room opened which did help later in the evening. The bedding was not plush but it was comfortable. The mattress was definitely worn.

Overall the stay was pleasant but we honestly cannot recommend the hotel because our room was too small and the restaurant was terribly over priced for the average family.

My husband and I were traveling with my sister and her husband, we all very favorably impressed with the hotel. It's a very charming looking building, so "Great Gatsby" ish. But although it was built in the 20's it's certainly modern where it counts. Our room was smallish but big enough for us to be comfortable. The room did have free wi-fi which some hotels promise but don't always deliver. The mattress was a comfortable pillow top, the room was quiet, and we slept like babies. Unfortunately it was a little chilly outside the evening we were there so we didn't try out the pool but it did look nice. We didn't eat dinner there either but went into downtown Digby, which is a nice little town (and has more to offer than Annapolis Royal, a town we'd stopped at earlier in the day). After we got back to the hotel we spent some time in the spacious lobby where there are comfortable chairs and couches, while a pianist entertained us. There is a great view from the winter garden style room behind the lobby, and comfortable chairs there as well. A full hot buffet breakfast was included with the room and when we left the next morning we all agreed that if we were ever going to be in Digby again we'd definitely stay at the Pines.
