“This is the place to go for authentic local cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We never would have found this place without a local telling us this is the place for seafood.

Old little restaurant that was packed for lunch with locals, seniors, families and business men. Deep fried delishessness. This is a seafood shack not to miss is Halifax well worth the trip across the harbour!

Great prices, great food, great service.

“Best Fried Clams in Canada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

I've been going to John's Lunch for 19 years, and their Fried Clams are the best I've ever had! Every time I go to Halifax area I alway make a point to go to John's Lunch. I have even drove 3 hrs just for their fried clams and drove back another 3 hrs, they are just that good. It's a small little diner with just with 6 booths and a dozen stools at the counter, the staff are awesome! Very friendly and make you feel like one of the family.
Love, Love, Love this place :)

“A must for any visit to Halifax!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

When in Halifax, I never miss an opportunity to come here to have great scallops and fries. Yes, it's not a fancy restaurant with not a lot of space, but the food is amazing. I normally get the digby scallops not only does the order come with lots of scallops but they are big scallops not like the small ones you get at some other places. This time I also tried the haddock tips which were amazing.

Be prepared to wait for a table but trust me the wait is so worth it!

“Family Biz Makes Good”

A staple of Woodside and definitely worth the trip from Halifax for some great seafood dishes.
Old fashioned seating booths and lunch counters....pleasant staff and great prices for great portions.

“Fish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

After reading that this was number one fish and chips in Canada my wife & I just had to try it.Was very disappointed. The batter was heavy, soft on the inside and the fish itself was cool. The fish did seem to be fresh. Why oh why do they have frozen french fries? Will go back & try their scallops.
