“Refreshing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2010

Stayed at hotel for six nights with mother, stepfather, sister, brother'n law and thier two kids. Was concerned because the last review for a Hampton Hotel we stayed at in Edmonton turned out to be really bad. This hotel was clean, the room was clean, the bed sheets were clean, felt safe, the pool and hot tub worked, breakfast area had enpugh space to accomodate thier guests, staff were friendly and we felt safe.

Everything was really close to the hotel and overall from our last stay at a Hampton, it was refreshing. Thanks.

It was hard to find this hotel because it's new and didn't show up on our GPS but what a great place to stay! It was right in the middle of Dartmouth Crossing. We could walk to the Cinema, shopping galore, and our favorite restaurant - Jack Astor's. The service was excellent and the breakfast gives you nice choices. I wish they used real plates and cutlery though....I would hate to think of the carbon footprint they are leaving behind.

The room was wonderfully clean, the layout was fantastic. I love being able to see out the window whatever side of the bed I'm on. Having the large bathroom and sofabed was convenient as well. We'll be staying there everytime we go to Halifax/Dartmouth.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2009

My husband and I and 2 teens stayed for a shopping weekend. The hotel itself is pretty new and it shows in the cleanliness! We had 2 spacious rooms right by the elevator and heard nothing. The pillowtop beds were comfortable and the bathroom had coffeemaker and hair dryer with full bath. Probably the nicest feature was the curved business desk and simple internet plug in , should be have needed them. There is a waterslide for the kids/teens and a small food store with frozen dinners, ice cream and snack. There is no restaurant, but there are 5 within a 10 min walk or 2 min drive. The free breakfast buffet in the morning was good, prefab eggs, sausage, variety of cereals and toast/bagels with fresh muffins! Juices, coffee and the fare were actually better than most free breakfasts I have been to and a nice roomy area to eat in. Staff here were very friendly and helpful --- well done on their part.

At Dartmouth Crossing (location of hotel), there is a multiplex movie theatre, several restaurants (Boston Pizza, Jack Astor, Montana's, Swiss Chalet, Opa Greek) big box stores (Costco, Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home Depot) and many others (Starbucks, Home Outfitters, Future Shop, Best Buy, Petcetera). They have built 3 adjoining shopping plazas, sort of like the outlet malls in the US, and put in stores like Liz Claiborne, Hugo Boss, Smart Set.... It is the perfect area to do most anything shopping wise.

It is on Hwy 118, which is an easy 15 min drive to the airport and an easy 15 min drive to Historic Properties and the waterfront. Unbelievably straightforward access to both -- so very impressive!

We will definitely be back to stay here again - absolutely cannot go wrong with it!

This Hampton Inn is superb. As soon as you walk into the hotel, one realizes that they are in for a good stay. The front desk staff is friendly and very efficent. The decor is sharp. Then you walk into the room and everything is where it needs to be for a business traveler. The bed is super comfortable, the flat screen is new and crisp, the decor is pleasing, and the room and bathroom are spotless. The hotel is located near a host of restaurants, shops and even a modern movie multiplex. You cannot go wrong staying at this hotel.

The hotel is on the highway from the airport to Halifax, in the area of a shopping mall. If you don't mind being away from downtown Halifax and want a quiet area, this is a good choice. There is not much around there.
This is a new hotel. It is very clean and fresh. Good size rooms, great beds. It has all the hotel amenities (pool, work out room, internet etc) except a lounge for a drink. Oh, and no restaurant. Breakfast is included but it is a continental style. if you want anything substantial, you need to go elsewhere. The staff at the front desk are exceptional. Helpful in every way. They even have coupons for some eateries in the area.
It is far from "the best ever" but it is a good hotel for families and business clients willing to stay a bit further out ($30 by taxi from downtown).
