To compliment on all the posts here, I dont disagree with any of the comments made, however after joinging the team and working here for a couple months you begin to understand the underlying issues of why BPS yellowknife is, the way it is.
First of all yellowknife like no other place in the world people just seem to do as they wish, employee's and clients alike, I'm originally from the east coast where we work hard for 11/hr so to start here and see cooks making almost twice that with little to no experience is very frustrating, I've spent the last 3 months of my life using everything I've learnt about dinner and restaurant service (in the kitchen) to properly prepare the staff for the level of business that this restaurant recieves,
As for the bad service, I've noticed the front end managers try just as hard to provide the guests with the best possible service, however managing and organising, 15 to 30 people at the same time in a high pressure enviroment is not the easiest task, (I encourage you to try) some of the employee's have never worked in the industry before, most are still in high school, for people like myself. 6 years in culinary arts and 2 years in culinary school, the front of house manager, graduate of nova scotia 07" tourism and hospitality management, we're overwhelmed with a challenge of trying to change the mind state of people rather then just teach employee's.
Also I would just like to add, Boston Pizza Yellowknife is the largest seat by seat restaurant in yellowknife, possibly the northwest terroritories, split by a wall, the restaurant and bar can both fill up at the same time, in which case it takes two experienced people to expedite and control, even organize the food and the employee's,
try to understand for a moment that at any given friday 140 plates leave the pass (the area in a restaurant designed for the service staff to pick up the ordered food and delivery it to the table, while the servers are running the food, the cooks keep cooking for thier other tables and putting up plates, while the hostess's seat more guests in thier section,
In closing what I guess I'm really saying is that as bad as you think it is and it may be there are a handful of good people behind the curtain trying to turn this around into something good,
To those people, hats off your against all odds trying your hardest.
