We were wandering around Duckworth on Sunday mid morning after suffering through three days of storm management. Stepping over and around lumps of snow we bent low to read the window mounted menu and quizzically looked at each other. Not sure what the couple sitting at the window table thought, but I we both said, as we straightened our backs, "Yeah, let's try it."
The service from the get-go was personal and attentive. As appetizers, my wife had the creamed potato soup and I had the squid. Ok, some uppity ups call it "Calamari". But I jigged squid for many years and I was chomping at the bit/jigger for some fresh squid. It was soooo good. Prepared differently than I had ever had it. Some sort of a red pepper chutney accompanied it which help made it a culinary delight. My bitter half and I then shared a Veggie sandwich with greens on the side accompanied by java. All pleasantly digested and rewarding. I had no hesitation in dropping a nice tip as we had a cozy, Sunday brunch which was as good as anything I've had in my 30 years of dining outside the home and would not hesitate to recommend the same as we enjoyed. The price was acceptable but I imagine the evening fare would be double what we paid. Hey, it's the market.
