“Seafood worth the wait.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

We were able to reserve a table at 6:00 for a 7:30 table; this was on a Tuesday night. This is a small restaurant where we found the service to be really attentive. Be prepared to be in close company; reminiscent of European restaurants. We shared the house salad and the crab cakes for appetizers, both delicious. We were a bit confused as to the length of time these took; the guests at the next table who were seated and ordered well after us received their mains (they didn't order appetizers) before we were served our appetizers. After that, the mains arrived and all was forgiven. My seafood platter had variety and quality in spades; sweet and perfectly cooked. My partner chose the seafood fettuccine; it also was packed full of various types of seafood.

The restaurant had a number of daily features which we were immediately told about. I would prefer to be told the price attached to these without having to ask, as that is part of my decision-making. process. I wish there were a 4.5 rating!

“Great Lobster Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

In town for a few nights and were looking for a Lobster Dinner. Great prices, and food. The lobster was awesome! Dessert options were also fabulous. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere!

“OK food; service slow and inefficient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Visited on a busy Saturday evening, after a discussion about whether we'd likely be waiting for a table at reservation time. Reassured we went off and returned at 8.30. Inevitably we had to wait and the restaurant was doing nothing to move people on who were clearly finished and trying to pay. Eventually we got seated and after another delay placed an order or so we thought. Another delay, by which time more than 45 minutes had elapsed. It then turned out that the waitress- who seemed to us to be carrying an attitude- had omitted to put our order to the kitchen, so another wait.

The food was OK; 6/10 by our own scoring system . The service was frankly not good at all, either in terms of delivering food in a timely fashion or the manner in which she did it. Worth a return? Well the food is OK- by no means the best of our trip but at least competent - but we just don't go back to restaurants where they( or at least she) gave off an attitude of doing us a favour to patronise their restaurant, and where they seemed not to understand how to manage the flow of people when busy.

“excellent choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Great meal in the heart of downtown St John's. Both the cod and halibut were absolutely perfect as was the service in this cozy little bistro. They book up very fast. We tried to get in on a Friday evening they were fully reserved till closing. We snagged a table on Sunday night (and they were at full capacity, so we lucked out) and it was worth the wait! Call a few days in advance if you plan to eat here on a busy Friday or Saturday evening. Desserts were very memorable. This place is a favorite with local foodies.

“Decent Food,Very Slow Service,Expensive !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

The Trip Advisor notice in the window attracted us to make reservations, while in St.John's as tourists. We arrived right at 7:30pm thursday...full house....quite noisy for an adult only atmosphere. Our waitress was prompt with the menu, and extremely friendly. We ordered mussels to split as a start, and waited more than 3/4 hour, almost killing our 1/2 litre of pinot grigio, and buns. On completion of the appetizer, we waited at least 3/4 hour for our entrees; that's 9:00pm on reservations of 7:30pm. My seafood platter and her pasta dish were excellent, but the wait almost killed our appetites. It's obviously a tourist trap...nice looking, great menu, but the wait, the service and the value....not good at all !

I am sorry to hear about your experience at our restaurant. We strive to provide high quality food and service. As we do live on a island shipping costs certainly do contribute significantly to the cost of our food. I can assure you we are not a tourist trap as we have many loyal local cusomers over the past 14 years of operation. I do apologize for your wait as this certainly is unacceptable. Please enjoy the rest of your vacation and thank you for helping us improve our business.
