Description: While the burgeoning restaurant scene in St. John's has witnessed epic change during the past two decades, the one constant of culinary perfection is Bianca's on Water Street. The top notch kitchen amazes every lunch and evening with tantalizing menu items and daily features pulled from the chef's… penchant for turning fresh local ingredients to plated master pieces. The food style is best summed up by owner Bianca Tzanov as, "regional avant-garde style that has Mediterranean roots". Pair the kitchen magic with one of the most celebrated wine cellars in Eastern Canada (Perennially recognized by Wine Spectator), and you'll soon understand why Bianca's has become as iconic as icebergs and whales to the fabric of Newfoundland dining. Whether a visitor or local, all agree, Bianca's is a destination not to be missed.

“Perfect as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

I had salmon done to absolute perfection. I made the mistake of ordering an appetizer which was both delicious and huge. Combine that with the extraordinary bread and complimentary sample appetizer, I had more than I could comfortably eat.

My friend had a rack of lamb. It was cooked to perfection but he found the seasoning sauce a bit sweet for his taste. He mentioned it to our server and she asked if he would prefer a different dish or would like the rack of lamb redone without the sauce on the plate. He went for the lamb again and within a few minutes there it was. No fuss, no bother, all handled with total discretion.

I have recommended this establishment since the week it was opened. Its service has always exceeded all expectations as as the preparation and presentation of its meals,

That has a downside unfortunately, it is hard to improve on perfection

“Restored faith in NL dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

After mishaps at a well-known NL chain in Gander and then a terrible evening at another popular St. John's restaurant, my husband and I were having doubts about east coast of NL dining. However, our faith was restored at Biancas. Even though staff were busy with a full restaurant and a private function next door, seemed to keep things moving. Food was creative and tasty. Great and timely service! Thanks again to Bianca staff.

“Amazing food on Water Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Not cheap but worth the money. Food was excellent, wine selection superb and typical east coast hospitality. My last visit was 17 years ago - still as good as I remembered.

“A Little Overated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

My wife and I travelled on a 10 day tour of Newfoundland from Ottawa, Canada on June 18, landing in Deer Lake and ending in St. John's. We stayed at the Delta Hotel and would recommend it as a central location near all sites. restaurants etc. The Bianca Restaurant is located @ 171 Water Street ( 90% of all pubs/restaurants are within a ten block radius (WATER, GEORGE, DUCKWORTH STREETS).

The Bianca is one of the most high end establishments as far as decor is concened. Quite pleasing surroundings with open kitchen and unique visible wine rack , from which you select your own wine. I found this fun and offered a chance to view the label before making a selection.

The menue was mainly fish ( as is most Newfoundland Restaurants) but a nice duck breast was available and I found it cooked "pink" and quite tasty. I had a little issue with my appitizer when the "pastry" topping on my Salmon Glavlax was still "frozen". This was addressed , however, and I got a new plate within a reasonable time.

My wife. not a big eater, had a creamy Lobster Bisque and Oysters Rockefellar and found the dishes traditional and well presented. The invoice, including a $55 bottle of Spanish wine came to $164.00 (NOT CHEAP TO VISIT NEWFOUNDLAND).

Overall, this was a passable evening and the food was good, not exceptional for the price. Service was good and attentive. Location is right on the main strip.
