“Fantastic little neighbourhood eatery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Gracie Joe's is a good find off the main tourist drag (but still close to downtown). This unpretentious little place has everything - friendly staff, great atmosphere (with art by locals hanging on the walls), creative, excellent meals and reasonable prices. Beware though: it's cash only! The menu is small but compared to most places in the city that seem to rely too heavily on meat, Gracie Joe's have a good number of vegetarian options on the menu. They also have gluten-free treats. This is a good place to stop into after a walk up Signal Hill or a visit to Quidi Vidi and not too far from the Craft Council.

“The Yummiest Healthy Food Ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

Just had lunch here with a couple of friends, I have been wanting to try this place for awhile and I am so glad I did.

The perfect Ham & Cheese Toastie roll (maybe not that healthy) & delicious French Onion Soup, Vegetable Coconut Curry Soup and Caeser Salad, and an array of Gluten Free scurmmy muffins and cakes. Add to this great coffee, a winner indeed.

They have an evening menu too so will no doubt try that at some point.....Better book though.

“Gracie Joe's is a nice place - if you have a bit of time to spare!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

I met an old friend for lunch and coffee at Gracie Joe's. We sat in the May sunshine at slightly crooked tables on what can be generously described as a wide sidewalk, with Quidi Vidi Road running close by. (As it isn't a particularly busy road, it wasn't a big deal, but there is no barrier between you and the street - a consideration if you have kids with you). Our server was cheerful and knowledgeable about the menu, which was varied and appropriate for lunch/brunch type meals. My friend asked for gluten-free bread, which was available. The coffee was excellent - big china mugs full of really exquisite dark roast. A small quirk is that you have to go inside the cafe to get cream and sugar - they don't bring it to the table (at least not on the "patio" aka sidewalk). Our meals took a long, long time to arrive - I think they must have been growing the lettuce for my sandwich - but since we had time on our hands and it was a gorgeous day, that wasn't a problem. Once they arrived, the sandwiches that we ordered proved to be exceptional and worth the wait. You have to go inside to pay, and at the moment Gracie Joe's only takes cash. There is plenty of inside seating and when I went in I saw just how busy they were, so maybe that explains the wait for our meals. The interior of the cafe is bright and pleasant, with part of the kitchen in full view. Alcohol is served inside, but I don't know if it is served at the outdoor tables. Having been only once, it would be unfair of me to assume that service is normally slow, but you might want to give yourself an hour if you are planning to have a mel - just in case.

“Amazing brownies and delicious lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

A cozy little dining room nestled away in a random residental area by the prison, this cafe does an excellent job of breakfast lunch and dinner. The teas are strangely pricey, but most of the cafe items, especially lunch, are very affordable. It's a bit inconvient that the cafe doesn't take debit or have a liquor license, but it's worth it to drop by all the same. The baker there is a magician!

“A Quaint Lilttle Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

It was our first visit but it will not be our last! We went out for a family dinner and were looking for a nice atmosphere with good food and service. It was perfect. The food was fresh, with plenty of flavor. It was so nice that the chef talked to us during food prep about our individual preferences for cilantro for example. A nice touch you don't get in a large venue. The coffee was excellent as were the desserts. We had the Gluten free brownie! Yummy!!!! Would suggest a reservation as it is not a large restaurant. Cash only which isn't a problem as they let us know when we called for a reservation.
