This little B&B was an amazing treat in St Johns! We went up for a week in July for a wedding and the Inn made our trip even more special. The owners are so caring and kind, and the breakfast was wonderful. The style of the Inn is so cool, it gives you a true Newfoundland feeling. The best thing about this place, besides the owners and the location, the BEDS are amazing. The most comfortable things I have ever slpet in!

If you're visiting St. John's, this is a good place to stay. From the house you can walk into the city and taking the car takes you to all the sites in the area in just a few minutes.
The house is beautifull (old victorian) and is kept wel maintained. The owners serve a wonderfull breakfast. Rooms are gorgeous, clean and spacious.

We stayed At Wit's Inn while on vacation in St. John's touring throughout the Avalon coast. The house itself is beautiful. The bedrooms are very spacious with large bathrooms attached to each bedroom. The rooms were well-appointed and modernized (several electrical outlets in each room, TV/cable/VCR in each room, fully updated bathroom/showers). Built in the 1890's, the 3-story house (not counting the basement level) has been fully refurbished, yet maintains the beauty and elegance of its original interior design. The owners, Garry and Janet, were wonderfully welcoming and hospitable. They went out of their way to help us find the best places to visit and to provide local, historical insight into the key areas along the Avalon coast. The full breakfast they served was both delicious and relaxing. Although it's a bit of a challenge bringing luggage up 2 flights of stairs to the top floor, it was well worth the climb.

We were fascinated by the keen insight that Garry provided regarding the various marine wildlife throughout the area. Janet was extremely helpful in providing details regarding the various activities available throughout the Irish Loop.

We didn't realize until after we left just how lucky we were to have a world-renowned expert to help us understand the marine life in the area. Although he never even hinted at his expertise, Garry holds a Ph.D in Zoology and is a research scientist with the Canadian Dep't of Fisheries and Oceans. He is a member on the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife, and the Head of the Marine Mammals section ICES/NAFO working group on harp and hooded seals in St. John's, NL He is an internationally recognized expert on estimating the abundance of ice-breeding seals. I mention this only because Garry is one of the kindest, unassuming gentlemen I've met. He was a wonderful resource...and added bonus to an already incredible experience.

My wife and I were in for graduation. We decided to try a B&B rather than your traditional hotel room. Glad we did. It's an old home with lots of character. We were on the 4th floor which we liked and didn't mind the stairs. We got a parking pass for our rented car so that solved that problem. Breakfasts were very tasty, and hot and varied each day. What a bonusYou also get a chance to meet your fellow travelers at breakfast.. We had a very large room and a very large bathroom. Shower was a bit smaller than I like but so what. The inn was spotless. Right across the street was a superb cafe. I was able to access wi-fi. Not sure if it was from the inn or from the cafe but it worked.

I had the pleasure of staying at At Wit's Inn for three nights while in St John's for a conference. I chose the B&B based on the glowing reviews here on Trip Advisor and am so glad that I did. The house is beautiful, and Janet and Garry are really ideal hosts -- attentive, friendly, and very helpful. I stayed in room #4 on the third floor and loved the spaciousness, the extremely comfortable bed and the clawfoot tub in the bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious and I enjoyed chatting with the other guests.

At Wit's Inn is well located for seeing downtown St John's and is also close to bus lines. Moreover, a taxi stand is nearby -- if you call for a taxi one will appear in about two minutes, making the location of the B&B even more convenient.

If I find myself in St John's again I will certainly try to stay here again!

After travelling for five weeks through the Maritimes, I must say that At Wit's Inn was the best B& B we stayed at. Garry and Janet were the perfect hosts and made our stay very enjoyable with lots of helpful suggestions for places to go and restaurants to go to. They are right in the heart of St. John's within an easy walk of a lot of the historic sights, shoppping and dining. We felt right at home in this neighborhood and, of course, one of the best parts was the awesome breakfasts. For anybody looking for a place to stay in St. John's, do not hesitate to go to At Wit's Inn, you won't be disappointed.

The house was a wonderful old buildng with most of its original features, not overly grand, on a real human scale.
The B&B was fairly central so you could cover the main sights by walking as lng as you are reasonably mobile and don't mind a few hills. It was also away from any heavy traffic, not that there is much in St John's anyway.
For breakfast each day there were different and interesting dishes with plenty of fresh fruit. We enjoyed the communal breakfasts and talking to other guests.
The beds were very comfortable, no trouble getting to sleep.
Our ferry to Nova Scotia was cancelled at the last minute and the owner were very helpful in helping to sort out an alternative.
