“Good Atmosphere, Better personalities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2010

Awesome experience, service was awesome, food was delicious, and beer was cold and tasty. Server was super friendly and made for a memorable experience. Made me feel like a regular and had known them for years. Food was reasonably priced for serving portion and taste.

“Nice place with great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2009

In town on business and needed to find a place to entertain clients. Very impressed with the the food (you need to order the SJAH kettle chips!) and variety of beer! The menu is more of that of a pub but very good all the same. Pub-like setting with great service.

Ate/drank here a few times in Saint John, outdoor dining when there is weather, good location and decent pub style food, Locals ate here as well.

“Lively atmosphere especially when cruise ships in port”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2009

We had a great time at the Ale House it along with 6 or 7 other establishments all in a row minutes from the cruise terminal make it a convenient stop to enjoy the day & have some fun. They offer up a band on the main street which was ok at best but music at least.

The food we had was more or less appetizer platters which were prepared nicely & very warm on arrival & the beer very cold as well. The service is friendly but a bit overworked for the crowd when a ship is in town. We found this to be the case in other places as well.

“Biggest dupe in Saint John”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2009

I can't understand why SJers continue to return to this low rate, over priced restaurant. Anything on the menu could be made better in my own kitchen. The service was as weak as my $12.99 cocktail. Cocktail prices are not even listed, which adds a crooked edge to a limited and tired menu. The food is boring, the prices are pretentious. The frequent customers of the Ale House need to leave this Boardwalk venue behind, and realize that SJ has much, much more to offer in the way of atmosphere, service, value and food for a better dining experience.
