“Comfort in a Smallish Space”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

I have stayed in this hotel on several occasions. As compared to most places I have stayed the standard rooms are smaller than one may be used to. You will find no fridge or microwave in the Standard Room, but rather a nice little coffee maker and plug in internet await the tired traveller. I did notice internet extenders in the hallway, so one can assume that there is Wi-Fi for IOS or tablet devices. The rooms are very nicely appointed. Wonderful artwork on the walls and the bathrooms are modern and trendy. The beds are fine excepting the comforter that graces the top. Remove it prior to sleeping or you will find it on the floor in the morning, and without a lot of floorspace, you may find that interfere somewhat with your desire to spring to the washroom. I noticed my carpet was stretched and bubbled in several areas, perhaps as a result of sliding heavy furniture? This hotel has an excellent hotel shuttle service to the airport, it runs every 15 minutes or so. Book ahead at the desk to make certain your desired time is available. I normally do not get wrapped about the parking lots of hotels, but as our group was in a bus, I thought the poor driver was going to take out half of the front design landscape trying to negotiate the bus into the parking area as to allow us to depart in safety. The parking lot is a nightmare for buses, so beware.
There is a Denny’s and a Steak house type pub attached by corridors to the hotel. The pub is upscale with prices to match, and Dennys is Dennys. Good reasonably priced meals, heavy on the breakfast offering. For one night stopovers, this is a very decent hotel. Close to the airport, reasonably close to Polo Park and the stadium. Recommended for overnight stays prior to flying.

Have stayed here numerous times as they give the best GOV RATE. The service is awesome, and the food is good at both Denny's/Chop

Had a brief one night stay on Feb.19.
Room was clean & comfortable. Decor was modern. Check-in was friendly and quick.
Hotel was quiet (it was a Sunday).
Room still had tube TV, not that it mattered to me.
Nice hotel. Good value.

Cannot comment on amenities such as internet speed (free), pool or restaurants as I did not use them.

I stayed here 2 nights in February for work. It's location to the airport is perfect. I didn't hear planes either night, so it's close but not too close. Ate at both Denny's and Chop and I was happy with both experiences. Beds were comfy and my room was clean. I would most definitely stay here again. Check in/out was smooth and quick and customer service from everyone on location was great. No complaints.

Just on business in Winnipeg. I have stayed a couple of times at the Sandman property there near Polo Park and the Airport.
It a very well run hotel with fast efficient check-in great front desk people and spotless rooms. It may be a little far from downtown but has great location to get to just about anywhere.
It has a good Dennys with friendly staff and a great happening retaurant called CHOP. Its busy everytime I am there which is a good sign.
Foods a little pricy but overall you get what you pay for.
Ample parking around the hotel and its well lit.
I am very satisfied and will continue staying there.

Room Tip: Main Floor corner or end rooms are easily accessable.

Sandman is nice, clean and bed was comfy! Room was pretty standard but no mini fridge. I've stayed at about 15 hotels in the past year and this was the first one with no little fridge.
It's close to airport and the military base which is why I was there. Dennys on site is handy and the Chop restaurant is a good choice for dinner!

Today's high in Winnipeg: 5F. When I checked into my closet, I mean deluxe guest room, the HVAC was set to COOL. That makes sense for Winnipeg in the winter. In the 45 minutes I've been in my room, it's warmed from 55F to 65F. I might be looking for a new room soon.

The room is clean, but it's terribly cramped. It's a small room to begin with, but by the time you add a king bed, chair and ottoman, armoire, entertainment center, and desk ... there's nothing left. So, make sure you don't get room 330 or 230, and you should be in good shape here.

Room Tip: Avoid 330 and 230!!! They are too small.
