“Good traditional theatre.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

We enjoy most productions at MTC. It is a traditional theatre playing a variety of tried and true works. Sometimes a new work is presented. Sets are elaborate. The house is quite comfortable. The one continuing annoyance is, the show always starts late. Sometimes it is 6-7 minutes after the posted curtain time. The management uses the excuse that parking is difficult in the area. That is true.

“The 2013/14 season about to being”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

As a season ticket holder for over 20 years, MTC makes those Winnipeg winters tolerable. There is nothing like Saturday night out dinner and a play. In recent years I most enjoy the warehouse as the mainstage seems to be leaning towards too many musicals for my taste, though obviously, others love them.

“Great local theater”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

If visiting Winnipeg during fall or winter try to take in MTC which provides high quality theatre with a local flavour.
Prices are reasonable and theatre itself has no bad seats even in balconies for less expensive tickets

“Ed's Garage”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Normally, I really enjoy the Mainstage. It's big, it's beautiful, it's very well maintained, and the staff is both very professional and very personable. Kudos.

Something I do need to remember next time (if there is a next time, that is) is not to get a seat high up in the balcony. I've got a bit of vertigo and both the height and the steep angle of the balconies really don't do anything to assuage that.

This time around though, I really didn't have a very good time. A great deal of that is doubtlessly due to a lack of sleep the night before and the moodiness that caused, but to be honest, I really wasn't that impressed by the play. The storyline and the script felt like sitcom cast-offs, and the acting, particularly by the two leads, was just lousy. Given the all the pauses in dialogue from the guy playing Ed, I had to wonder if he was having problems remembering the script or maybe losing his place on any cue cards that might've been around. And the female lead (can't remember the actress's name or the character's name offhand) really over-did it (and inconsistently, too) that "cultured, educated, snobbish" accent.

Nuts, I was so put off by the show, once intermission hit, I left.

“The past 2 years the plays have been very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

The playbill is varied and the acting has been very good. The sets have been versatile, especially for Gone with the Wind.
Good entertainment for a reasonable price.
