Description: We are a local hidden favorite in the exchange district. Located 2 block from the MTS Center and behind the Burton Cummings Theater, we are a popular spot for pre and post drinks & grub. We focus on homemade food and supporting local as much as possible. "It`s a tavern not some trendy Gastro Pub people. Good Beer, Grub & Music. Bob`s your Uncle"

“Awesome Tavern”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

Great food, good beer and a great atmosphere. Parking can sometimes be an issue. But, the restaurant once you get in is a great place to relax and meet up with friends.

“Great place for lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Had lunch here on a work day. We ate in the cafe section. Lots of selection and, I think, very reasonably priced. Good selection of beer served by the half pint. There are soup and lunch specials that change every day posted on big blackboards. I had the Guinness Stew. It was served hot with a slice of garlic bread. The service was average. On the negative side, I bought a couple of cookies from the jar at the cash register. They were so dry I went back and got a refund although the staff member didn't seem convinced there was anything wrong with a cookie that was hard as a rock. Despite this I will go there for lunch again.

“stopped for a pint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Drove into Winnipeg to go to Burton Cummings Theatre .Not sure of area we found good parking close by then we needed a quick bite to eat .Not knowing anyhing close we thought we would go into the yellow dog as it is the only place we could see within walking distance .
To be honest we were a little worried going in but mildly surprised once there .Its a great little place with a good menu for a quick bite .The beer was good ,service was great .The staff ran there buns off in there .Great atmosphere .
We would definitely return when in the area and in need of a bite to eat and a quick beer .

“Good Beer on Tap-Surley Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

Had nachos, and a few beers one night. Nice location, nice decor, nice feeling of being a place where "regulars" go. It was neat. So we returned again...not such a fantastic experience...Nickle and dimed over where we could sit and what we had to order...kind of strange...Apparently the pub and restaurant are separate, or licensed separately or something? So we had to order food. We were there for a drink before dinner, so just decided to order an appy....not enough according to them. Finished our drink and left. Would arrive earlier next time, to ensure seating in the pub area to avoid this strangeness...

“A comfortable spot for a pint and delicious food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2011

I went to the Yellowdog Tavern because they had perogies – I had spent my 5 days in the city looking unsuccessfully for them. The Tavern seems to be part pub, part café, and part restaurant. It has a very casual and comfortable feel to it. I wish I had found it at the beginning of my trip instead of the last night, as I would have gone back for a pint and tried something else off their menu. Oh, and the perogies were yummy! Served with garlicky farmer’s sausage, fried onions, and sour cream. Worth the wait! It was also nice to be able to try a local beer.
