“Friendliest Staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

The staff at the Delta Winnipeg make the visit worthwhile. They are friendly, but not by a calculated formula that is irritating to me. Their friendliness appeared to be genuine and authentic.

The rooms at the Delta are dated, but are clean. The linens are fresh, the beds comfortable. The TV is old and tucked into a large cabinet that, in it's day was the "thing" to have in a hotel room, and now sticks out like a sore thumb.

The bathtub is tired, but the 80's granite counter has weathered well, and looks as new as the day it was installed. The bathroom was clean, and everything in working order.

My room had an in-room coffee maker - the usual small sort with a package of Nabob. I opted instead to head downstairs for Starbucks, found in the lobby.

Room service was prompt and decent, and serving sizes were appropriate.

In the lobby there is an Elephant and Castle pub which is popular with Winnipeg Jet, jersey wearing, hooting and hollering fans on game days. They are enthusiastic people. There is a quieter lounge in the lobby too, with large flat screen TV's for the subdued Jet fans wearing suits and ties.

Best part of the hotel is the inter-connectivity with the skywalk system. During my week long visit, I did not have to step outside. Normally this would be a negative for me, however, walking around the streets of Winnipeg after business hours was not recommended.

Room Tip: The elevator noise carries. If this sort of thing bothers you, ask for a room as far from the elevat...

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your recent stay with us.

We take great pride in our team as we believe we have some of the best in the industry, and the service you receive is genuine and authentic because we LOVE what we do. We're pleased to hear it shows.

You're right, our rooms are starting to show their age, but we also take great care in keeping the rooms and the rest of the clean and top condition.

Winnipeggers are passionate fans and we're happy you were able to experience the enthusiasm on game day. Winnipeg has an active and vibrant downtown, and we can understand that some guests may naturally feel uncomfortable in a downtown community at night, but our streets and walkways are safe. If ever you feel you need an added sense of security, please let us know, as we are always happy to provide you with a walking companion to and from your destination or if available, we do have a shuttle for downtown destinations -- just let us know where you need to go.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Safe Travels,
Delta Winnipeg

A late arrival at the hotel, I spent one night. A nice and professional welcome at the reception desk. It was pretty cold inside the room when I entered. The heating system was spreading more cool air than warm and at this time of the year in Winnipeg (early March) temperature are far to be warm.
The room was OK and clean, the bathroom was clean.

Room Tip: Room 516 is quiet but the heating system is noisy

Thank you for sharing your comments. We appreciate feedback as it helps us improve our service and product to better meet your needs.

Hopefully, we'll be able to welcome you back when the Winnipeg weather has warmed up a bit. It's a great city all year round, but we are one of the greenest and most vibrant cities in the Prairies in the summer months.

Safe Travels,
Delta Winnipeg

When I arrived in my room I was extremely disappointed. I found my room dark, carpets worn out and dirty. The room and bathroom were extremely dated. I really didn't like it at all. So much so that I paid the extra money to move to club level. My room on club level was much better.

One distressing point was that there was a ruckus in the hall outside my room continuously during the first night with a guest trying to get into the room across the hall, pounding on the door at 3 AM. Security was involved. I had to call the front desk and tell them to please call the police because obviously this guy isn't going away and as soon as security escorts him away he is back 10 mins later more aggressive then ever. It was pretty scary for a single woman alone in her hotel room! I was not impressed at all.

The hotel is perfect location for taking in a Jets game; within short walk from the arena. We ate at the Japanese restaurant attached to the hotel and it was very good. Hotel restaurant was good also. I think with a good reno this hotel would be back on par.

Thank you for sharing your comments and concerns with us.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the room on the Signature Club floor -- A key access only floor with a private lounge and concierge. With complimentary evening h'ors d'oeuvres and deluxe continental breakfast in the morning is sure to delight any guest in Signature Club.

We apologize for the inconvenience the disruption across the hall caused for you. We aim to provide an environment that is peaceful and respectful for all guests, and we'd like to apologize that this was spoiled for you. We'd like to make it up to you though.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay otherwise and look forward to welcoming you back again soon -- perhaps for another Jets game or downtown event?

Safe Travels,
Delta Winnipeg

The hotel is getting somewhat dated but its amenities and conveniences far outweigh that. The staff are fantastic and very very helpful. I have stayed at other hotels where if you ask for something extra (late checkout, etc) the staff treat you like it is an inconvenience but at the Delta the staff seem eager to give you a hand and always ask how your stay was and if there is anything they could do for you. I would far rather stay at the Delta than at the Fort Garry because I find the service at the fort garry vastly inferior. I have never had a bad experience at the Delta and will continue to stay there.

Room Tip: Sometimes the executive floors is not that expensive an upgrade, inquire about it and you may be sur...

We choose this hotel when attending events in downtown Winnipeg. The staff is really helpful, friendly and effiicient. Check-in/check-out is easy! There is underground parking! The rooms are well-appointed and clean.

Room Tip: Southside rooms are very quiet and private.

Everyone of the staff whom I encountered was extremely friendly and helpful, food at the restaurant was great. Room was nice, regular Delta room. The neighborhood is a little dicey late at night for a female solo traveller but I made sure I got back before 9 pm and all was fine.

Thank you for your feedback. It is always a pleasure to hear the comments from our satisfied guests.

Our location is in the heart of a vibrant and active area of our downtown community and we are proud to call it a safe area. We understand that some travellers naturally feel discomfort in a downtown location at night and we consistently provide accessible solutions to all guests. If ever you don't feel at ease, please let us know as we'd be happy to provide SafeWalk services or escort you to your destination at any time of day or night.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Location is great, especially if you're into shopping or attending a hockey game or conference but this hotel is dated and is in need of a reno. The dining room is fine. The food is fine. The fitness centre leaves much to be desired.
If you are on the Signature Club level, Jessica who works in the lounge is very helpful, very pleasant and happy to see guests come in.
