I was spending the week in Winnipeg and wanted to drive north to Lake Winnipeg for the day. About an hour north I hit the town of Winnipeg Beach, mind you it is May and the lake is still covered with ice. Needing a fresh cup of coffee I came across the owner of The Boardwalk who invited us in for a fresh brewed cup of ground coffee. Excellent as the beans were ground and brewed as I waited. The owners were really great and told me a lot about the area.
As a couple of other customers food came out I just had to stay for lunch. Large Menu and the prices are great about half of what you would pay in the city of Winnipeg. They also serve a large selection of beer. The whole meal, a chicken sandwich and a cup of homemade corn chowder came to $10.00 CAD. The owners chatted with us while we ate our meal, good company!
If you are in Winnipeg I would recommend the drive north and stop on in at The Boardwalk. It sits just on the beach of main street. The owners tell us the town is really great in the summer; however we enjoyed the quiet of the winter local crowd. Great Spot and a Great Deal.
