This is a very rustic hotel; its location is the 1st hotel in town.
The town isn't huge so no where is too far to walk.
It's adequate & clean, friendly staff and efficient service.
We stayed there as part of a tour for 4 Days, the accommodation is basic, in your room you have a bathroom very clean (but we had a loose toilet seat which we fixed took about two minutes to unbolt the seat and reseat the fittings & a thermostat that was stuck in the bathroom, again we managed to get sorted, this should be look at as the rooms are cleaned), there are a couple of beds a T.V cupboard with no doors and no where to hang clothes except for two small pegs in the wall for your coats.
I know everything is casual in Churchill but even a wooden rail in the corner of the room would be useful to hang some clothes, instead of having to live out of a suitcase.
The restaurant was a reasonable size, shame the lodge doesn't have a bigger area to sit around in, there is a room with seating for about 5-6, and the lodge does not have a bar so there is nowhere to have a drink or socialise.
Having said this, all credit to the couple who own the lodge, Wally did the building and the furniture so a lot of hard work has gone into the place.
Wally appears to be very busy with the build and many of his other jobs, he was our local guide both on the tundra (meals provided on the tundra were very good), and on a tour of the town, he was a very interesting and knowledgeable guide.
