If you are an actual newfie- stay away from this place as you will be extremely disappointed. Perhaps there is a chance if you are not an actual newfie you may enjoy this. A group of 4 of us stopped in here on a drive to Saskatoon recently from Winnipeg. Originally from Newfoundland and not having been home in quite some time I was excited to come across this restaurant.
First of all we were told we had to order from the breakfast menu. Than another table sat down, literally seconds after us and they ordered lunch. Secondly, our waitress did not seem to have a clue about anything. I shall assume she was "new", so I can accept her not knowing everything right away but she just seemed to not care whatsoever with our inquires or questions. In fact she basically ignored them and never followed up on any of them. My food was ok, but I had bacon and eggs so whether Newfie or not you can't really mess this up. My partner was excited to see Eggs Benedict on a newfie touton , as was my friend who was with us from Chicago. I have no idea what they served them but it was absolutely not a touton and I don't care what part of newfoundland you are from a touton should not be hard and crispy. A touton should be soft, like dough and fried on a pan. The item they received was crunchy. EPIC FAIL- it shojld not be crunchy. The eggs benedict was hard boiled. Again, this should not be. Eggs benedict should be a poached egg, runny...this was hard boiled. Who on earth does that? The good- the restaurant was clean and cute. The service and the food- horrible.
