“Perfect stay for family of four”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We stayed at Dancing Firs for the minimum 3-nights, but I wish we could have stayed for 3 weeks! Mary (the owner) made us feel so welcome. The gardens are gorgeous and my two boys (6 and 8 years) spent hours on the beach collecting shells, rocks and looking at starfish. A very luxurious, comfortable home with an amazing view of the ocean. We didn't even go into Vancouver because we didn't want to leave the peace and beauty of Dancing Firs. The kids fished off the pier in White Rock, hiked though the cedar forest nearby, visited sandy Crescent Beach and explored other beach access points. Dancing Firs, and meeting Mary, was a highlight of our trip.

Like many properties along the bluff in South Surrey and White Rock, the view of the ocean and dancing firs is hypnotic. We stayed in the middle "hotel like room" for two weeks while our home renovation was being completed and mostly enjoyed this property. The owner's attention to certain details was very much appreciated: clean air (heppa air filter), filtered water, and exceptional linens. We did encounter a few problems however: 1) the wireless internet was sporadic; 2) it can be noisy between rooms (- the guest next to us had a party one night making sleep very difficult, especially when one of her male party guests showed up on our private patio and at our bedroom window while we were in bed. - TV is easily heard on the east wall). If you are here for a short stay you likely won't be bothered by the washroom that is poorly spatially proportioned and has no place to hang towels, etc.; and if you plan to eat out you likely won't encounter issues with the very small "kitchen" area. Overall, we were pleased with the property, but have some reservations.

My only mistake about staying at Dancing Firs was not staying longer. I intend to go back and spend 4 days instead of 2. It's the perfect haven for those wanting to escape the city and chill out with a good book or spend time sketching while over looking the ocean. The rooms are spacious, charmingly decorated and well equipped with various healing technologies that add a nice therapeutic touch. Not a place that I would take my kids to though as it would be too quiet for them.

I have just been to Dancing Firs again, my fourth or fifth time in as many years and I cannot say enough about the uniqueness of the location and the splendour of the view. The extensive grounds, firs, ocean make for a breathtaking surprise every time you look out the window.
Inside, Mary has decorated each suite (I've been in all of them) with taste and quality. Want a coffee? Make a cappuccino with the top notch machine in the room. Want coziness? Flick on the fireplace. Want to relax? Get into the hot tub facing the ocean and just be, in peace and in beauty.
I highly recommend Dancing Firs for a short or a long stay. It's location and comfort make it one of the best things you could give yourself for a treat or a holiday or a long term stay.
All the comforts of home PLUS healthy water, air and mattresses that will have you sleeping like royalty.
Dancing Firs is THE place to go whether you are wanting to spend quality time with loved ones or friends or whether you have business in the area.

We had an amazing time in the Bay View Suite. Dancing Firs is in such a gorgeous location with beautiful gardens and views. The in-suite breakfast was delicious and healthy - breakfast shakes, mushroom frittata, fresh fruit . Mary was able to accommodate our group's food sensitivities. She extended us every hospitality. Our group of six friends took full advantage of the kitchen ( which was amazingly outfitted) for our evening meals. Take advantage of the hottub and the soaker tub, they are the perfect antidote to stress. This is a serene retreat from the world, we only wished we could have stayed and enjoyed it for longer.

I stayed at the Dancing Firs B&B in White Rock with my friends. I was very impressed with the kindness, attention to detail, and generosity of the hostess. The setting is very calm beautiful (forest, being by the water, etc.) There is also a hot tub, gardens, outdoor areas to sit and relax, etc.

The room we stayed in was set up with a lot of extra details to make sure we were comfortable. There was purified water, a fancy cappuccino maker, organic juice, lots of books and DVDs to watch, a fireplace, a big soaker tub, large shower, wireless internet, and more.

The breakfasts were excellent and kept our group's dietary concerns and food preferences in mind. The presentation, taste, health-value, and variety of food was excellent. I typically have trouble when I travel because of my food sensitivities and the typical places I stay, I end up eating extra greasy food, fast food, etc. So having the healthy breakfasts provided, and the ability to make dinners in our suite (full kitchen with everything we needed) made a huge difference. If someone did not want to cook dinner, they can make arrangements or there are restaurants nearby.

Anyways, it is obvious that Dancing Firs wants to make sure you have a great stay and I am sure you will. My group wishes we had booked a longer stay. Also this would be a great couples' getaway.

We stayed in the Ocean Firs Suite - a lovely space purpose-built for guests, with a shower-bathroom, kitchenette with tea & coffee & fixings as well as a fridge & microwave, king bed and sitting area. It looks directly out at the firs and the bay beyond. The finish quality of the space is top notch - this is more like a boutique hotel that someone's spare room.
Mary brings breakfast to your room and she was wonderfully accommodating of my gluten-free dairy-free diet and found some fabulous treats at her local organic market. She was also able to be flexible as we worked to schedule around the WNBA playoffs and stayed up for our late arrival after Seattle's victory celebration.
Shandy the cat is the friendliest kitty we've ever met and it takes only a call out the door in the morning for her to become your friend for the visit.
The landscaping is lovely and we had a peaceful visit with a few walks into town (about a mile) for exercise. There is no shortage of choices for coffee or ice cream in walking distance. You can hear the trains down the hill, which we also found relaxing.
All in all a fantastic place to relax, cocoon and rejuvenate.
