“This could be the best restaurant in Whistler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We were referred to this restaurant by the concierge at the Pan Pacific Mountainside. It doesn't look like much when you enter (it's up a set of stairs, not on ground level like most of the restaurants in the Village), but all of the food we ordered (all 5 of us) was excellent---fresh, high-quality ingredients (lamb! blueberries! chevre!) skillfully prepared and attentively served. Reasonable cost, comfortable restaurant space. Will definitely eat at 21 Steps again.

“A great find in the heart of Whistler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

They say Whistler is expensive, but it isn't if you know where to look. Right in the heart of Whistler Village is a great restaurant that offers 3 courses for $35. You're given an extensive menu and are allowed to choose one starter, one main course, and one dessert or special coffee. The steak dishes have a $3-4 surcharge, but there is plenty to choose from besides steak. I had the mussels in lemon butter and wine, which were perfectly cooked and the broth was good enough to eat like a bowl of soup (with a basket of warm, fresh bread). I chose baked salmon with garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and asparagus for my main course, and a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel sauce for dessert. All in, with taxes and tip (and a Long Island iced tea!) my bill was $55. That's pretty reasonable for Whistler! The food was perfectly cooked and served quickly, the ambiance was great (we had a table overlooking the Village Stroll, which was great for people-watching), and our waiter - Will - deserves special mention because he was such a great server. I'd highly recommend this restaurant, but go before 7:00 if you want your pick of seats - it does get busy. And I'm not sure if there's an elevator - we counted, and there are indeed 21 steps to get to the restaurant. You can call them to find out if it's wheelchair accessible at 604-966-2121.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

This is a fantastic restaurant with a varied and delicious menu and warm, friendly and very hospitable staff. Not to be missed!!

The menu states that during the day the kitchen work hard to create a menu that the guests will love and during the evening the restaurant work hard to make you feel as welcome as you would in their own home.... and it works! LOVE IT!

“Wonderful food, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We spent a couple of days in Whistler. This was our second night and the hotel concierge gave us this recommendation. Great suggestion. We both ordered one of the three course menus. Each course was delightful and prepared perfectly. I for one enjoyed the lack of ac. The windows open in the middle of the village made for a pleasant dining experience. Reminded me of many places I had been in Europe over the years. Service was attentive, not stuffy. We weren't rushed. All in all we had a pleasant evening of fine food and a nice atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the meal. Will definitely be back our next trip to Whistler.
