“Excellent service, great value, ideal location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2009

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were very impressed with the excellent customer service, the quality of the room and amenities, and the perfect location right next to the lifts in the village. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in this hotel with our whole family and some friends on a trip for a wedding in Whistler. Booked with Hotels.ca for a great rate! This hotel has everything you need in the room. We had a suite with the murphy bed. The bed itself was a little hard, but the room was great for having people over and the kitchenette was a great way to save money on breakfast and lunch by not having to go out. The bathroom was clean and well stocked and shower pressure was great. My in-laws had a loft suite which was great especially with 6 people in the room and the two full bathrooms. There is more than enough things to cook with - my mother-in-law made a turkey!
The pool was warm and had lots of sun and chairs. It was a gorgeous location and you are close to the hill. Staff were friendly and had things repaired/replaced within 20 mins of making a call to the front desk. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Whistler.

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights some of which was part of a timeshare exchange. Loved the location....across the street from the lifts, restaurants, shops, rentals and anything else you want. Had room 115 which was VERY roomy & comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful, informative and accommodating. The on site restaurant is wonderful , as is the pool area which we did not use much because we were too busy having too much fun with all the other activities! Overall Whistler is very expensive for groceries, restaurants, & shopping, partly due to the taxes, but in asking around for future visits we found Mountainside Lodge to be absolutely the best deal for the money.

We arrived at the Mountainside Lodge on August 4 for a stay of three nights which we had booked and paid for through the Whistler-Blackcomb website. However, we left early - on August 5 - because we were very disappointed by the room (number 121).

Our main objection was that it was insufferably hot. On the first night, with the air-conditioning vibrating at a very noisy maximum and a fan whirring in the loft area, it was so hot that we had to sleep wearing no clothes and with no sheet or blankets over us.

The second objection is that the jacuzzi bath was impossible to use because the plug did not fit and so the water level never reached the right level to operate the jets. We also thought the room was unpleasantly situated next to a service access and with no view - as well as being slightly dingy and dark but this was a less important consideration than the others.

We reported the jacuzzi and heat problem to reception on the evening of the 4th but were told that it was too late to be fixed that day as maintenance had gone home. The next day, when we returned from a day out in the afternoon, the air-conditioning was quieter and slightly more effective but the room was still too hot, particularly upstairs in the loft suite. The temperature outside during our stay was around 25c and much cooler at night, so the a/c should have been able to cope.

The jacuzzi bath did not seem to have been fixed.

As a result, we left the hotel after advising reception staff of our findings. We were told that as the room was prepaid - about $390 - we would not receive a refund.

I am very disappointed by the hotel and by the advice that we did not qualify for a refund, which I do not accept. At the very least I would expect the last night to be refunded; and really I feel that two-thirds of what we paid should be refunded.

I would not advise anyone to stay at this hotel.

Our beautiful two days' getaway was marred by unacceptable housekeeping, and staff and management not being able or willing to do anyhing about it. Since our complaint, we haven't heard from anyone yet, and the reception staff claimed they had no authority to deal with the issues right then and there.
The room had several faults: a/c not working properly (had to tinker with pretty much every know before it started working, and even then it wasn't cooling sufficiently, while it was too loud to sleep). I saw on this website after the fact that other people had similar issues. The shower was also in a sorry state - I got scalded several times while showering. The maintenance person said that it "worked if you fiddle with it a little". The microwave turntable was wobbly, unsafe to use to warm up liquids. The lamps wouldn't turn on (more fiddling required).
And the best of all - the room didn't get cleaned at all after the first night of our stay. (And no, there was no "do not disturb" sign on the door!)
All we got was a half-harted apology, accompanied with"this is the first time someone's complained about the room", and assurance that the general manager Mark would contact us. This has yet to happen. That kind of ignorance is the worst insult of all - all other things are not as important compared to unhelpfulness and indiference we received from this hotel's personnel and management. There are many other hotels in the same area with similar amenities and prices; there is no reason for me to ever go to Mountainside Lodge again. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

The air conditioner didn't work... even after we called and they sent a person who checked it and cleaned the filter. Since it was July and hot, the room was uncomfortable day and night. The windows don't open wide enough to allow a good breeze, but they did let in bothersome late night noise from outside. Other than that the room was small but the kitchen was well equipped. With a decent A/C, it would have earned an average rating.

We found the Queen with Loft a wonderful experience. We used the Dry, in room, Sauna, and Jacuzzi. The amenities included everything we had expected and more. Service Staff from Desk to Room was Professional and Pleasant. The Desk Clerks/Concierge staff always had time to ask how our day was going and were at the ready to assist us.
Location was Perfect, 30 meters off Whistler's main stroll and 600meters from Blackcomb village. At night the atmosphere was laid back without the Street noise.
Having stayed in other Whistler locales, We can say Mountainside Lodge was by far best Value in Cost and Location. Would recommend It to anyone.
