“Brilliant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2007

My wife and I booked at this hotel (through a travel agent) and asked for something close to the Mountain Bike Park. Our first impressions of the lobby were very good. When we got to our room - wow! It was very very clean with a living room, bedroom and kitchen. The bathroom floor had heated ceramic tile and the living room had a gas fire place. The service was excellent and the staff were all polite, friendly and very helpful - they were like our tour guides.
The Sundial is the closest hotel to the lifts and the park. It backs onto the Villiage Square and is close to everything.
As we were leaving we met a very personable gentleman on the elevator and told him how pleased we were with our stay. He was happy to hear it and it turns out he was the owner.
Great rooms. Great location. Great staff. We will definately go back!

This is a top hotel.

The room was amazing. We were upgraded to 2 bed suite with balcony facing the town. There was a bath in our master bedroom and every aspect of the room was pure luxury.

Hotel is ideally located in the town beside the gondolas and minute walk from centre of resort town. Town itself is great with pedestrian roads and great holiday atmosphere.

Would highly recommend, especially in the Summer when the rates are very reasonable! Wished had stayed longer than the 2 nights we gave Whistler.

We could not believe our luck at getting such a gorgeous suite, and then found out all the rooms are suites just like ours. We had a view of Whistler Mountain and were in a perfect location to walk all over town. People were amazingly helpful to us. This was our most beautiful room of our 15 day vacation in the Northwest.

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights and had a de-luxe room on the 8th floor. This had a sitting room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and outside area with hot tub. TV in sitting room and bedroom, all very comfortable.

The views from the terrace and hot tub were amazing, snow on the mountain tops and mountain bikes zooming down the slope to the village.

Lots of restaurants within walking distance and we went to the Italian Umberto Menghi's Il Caminetto Restaurant on both nights as the standard was so high.

Our one complaint of the village would be the noise on the Sunday night. Our room looked out over a bar and even 'though we were on the 8th floor the noise was bad. I eventually rang the reception at 1.30 am to ask what was going on as I thought this was very late for bars to be open on a Sunday. The receptionist pretended not to know what I was talking about but obviously from reading previous reviews it is a problem. We never once so a police person and thought that Whistler would benefit from regulated bar closing times. On the Monday night we didn't hear a thing.

On the Monday we went up the mountain on the gondola and then the chair lift to the top and it was an amazing experience. We were able to walk easily back down to the gondola and the sun was shining amongst the snow and ice. Lovely.

Would probably advise people to stay away from the gondola, bar area if they want to sleep on a Sunday night.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights recently and loved it.
We had a mountain view room on the 5th floor. The bed was super comfortable and the living room was a great place to unwind and relax. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. The only negative was that one night we were woken up at around 1:30am from people screaming from the bar down below. I suggest maybe staying in a room away from the local bars/pubs. Still, all in all, I'd recommed this hotel highly.

My husband and I stayed at the Sundial in June for 2 nights. We had a Mountain View room on the 6th floor. The room was quite large for 2 people and the decor was modern. The bed was a king size (two twins put together) and was super comfortable. The bathroom was very spacious - loved the cozy bathrobes and of course the Aveda products. Nice kitchen, although we only used the fridge for our beverages. Free wireless was certainly a bonus too. We parked in their underground lot and didn't take the car out while we were there. The parking is expensive, but it was nice not to worry about the car. We used the hot tub a couple of times and had it to ourselves. It's small, but comfortably seats 8 people at least. This hotel would be perfect during ski season as well. I could see one of the gondolas from our window and the other was just out of sight. I will definitely book here when we come back to ski. We paid $150/night, but I don't expect that bargain when we come back in the winter.
As for restaurants in Whistler, we had a superb meal at Araxi - consistently rated one of Whistler's best. Much to our delight, they had a special 3-course prix fixe menu for $45! Also went to Elements tapas bar for some of the best tapas ever! Highly recommended. We had a so-so dinner at 21 Steps restaurant, although they did make a decent fruity martini. For breakfasts, we went to Hot Buns bakery for a pastry and coffee. Ingrid's Village Cafe made delicious, fresh sandwiches to order.
I also recommend going to My Foot Reflexology for a traditional Asian reflexology session. I've never seen my husband experience that much pain - but he sure enjoyed it!

This is wonderful small hotel in Whistler Village. Our room was a genuine two room suite with nice furnishings, comfy bed, full kitchen, decent sized rooms, and friendly staff.

Whistler Village is noisy at night with lots of drunks and partygoers yelling and generally behaving boorishly. If you want a quiet area to stay in avoid the Village and find accomodations in an outlying area.

If you drive expect to pay about $20 per day to park your car in the hotel parking lot.
