Four of us stayed here in mid-September in combination with a package at the Whistler Bike Park. Tantalus is in a great location--not right next to the village, but only a 5 minute walk, which actually leads to a quieter location. The two bedroom suite we were in was fantastic--and the two outdoor heated hot tubs were perfect at the end of a long day of riding. They have bike locks available, dvd players available, and the staff was very friendly. Overall not just a great value, but a great place to stay if visiting Whistler!

We stayed one night in Tantalus Lodge on Sep 17 (Mid Autumn Festival) in a two bedrooms suite. This is our second time to stay in this hotel for gathering. Overall the hotel is clean and tidy, but the most important is the staffs are very nice and helpful. The price is good too ! So we will go again next spring. Philip Chan

We stayed here for 2 nights in a 2 bed, 2 bathroom suite in September. We were very happy with our suite, and location is just a few minutes walk to the village. There were renovations going on while we were there but did not affect our stay. Front desk staff were very pleasant. It was raining while we were there and they offered us umbrellas. The suite was very comfortable and clean. Beds were very comfortable. We would stY there again.

Booked this trip very last minute (24 hours before) and was very limited to lodging due to the Iron Man Competition being in town. Lets start with the positive. The Tantalus Lodge location is good. Because we have independent teens, we want easy accessibility to restaurants, shops, etc. Easy 5 minute walk into village, across from golf range and adjacent to main road but still very quiet. As other reviewers mentioned, the pool and surrounding pool areas are very clean and very nice. It also has a tennis court that we used daily. Many of the other properties around do not. Beds were newer and comfy. Now lets get to the room itself- dark (we faced the hill side not the golf range side), worn, smelly and generally pretty crappy. The lighting is terrible- not even enough light to properly make coffee or use the kitchen in any way. Couldn't get another room because they were filled for Iron Man and believe me, I tried, especially after what I will tell you next. One reviewer mentioned a vomit smell that her kids noticed coming from behind the couch. Just my luck, my kids smelled the same thing. There was in fact, vomit behind and on the couch. The staff apologized and I actually insisted on all new couch cushions but you could still faintly smell it after all "the cleaning" had been done. These are the kind of lodgings that college kids stay in on ski trips- 8 or more to a room, beer drips on the walls (there were drips on the walls- who knows what they were) sticky stuff on every baseboard, etc. The good news is that we just werent in the room that often due to the hundreds of beautiful outdoor reasons not to be! As mentioned previously, the beds were comfy so we dealt with it for the trip. Certainly would not go back or recommend. I struggled between "poor" and "average" on this one. The property and location is above average but the rooms themselves are poor. Whistler has LOTS of accommodations. The Whistler resort itself is fantastic in the summer with loads of family activities. Next time I'd do my homework and book early.

Room Tip: if you MUST stay here, ask to be facing the golfing range. Those rooms appeared much brighter.

We were staying in Whistler for one night with friends and found this hotel to be great value.
The 2 bedroom suit we booked was large and spacious, clean and comfortable.
The reception staff were warm friendly and helpful and the swimming pool and Jacuzzi's were a great addition for a 3 star hotel.
Bathrooms were clean and beds were comfortable, the hotel is a 5/10 min walk to the village so also a great location.

From the email welcoming us prior to our arrival, to the friendly staff on arrival and the phone call after arrival to make sure all our needs had been catered for, this is 5 star service. My partner and I travelled with my mother so 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms suited us perfectly. Close proximity to the village was also a big plus. The only downside, and this is very minor, there were no microwave suitable bowls to cook in. Would stay here again and would recommend to others

I needed a place that would sleep 7 adults without breaking the bank. It was for my brother's stag and I was told I should check out Tantalus, so I did just that. It's also close to the village, about a 10 minute walk to Skier's Plaza. We walked each night into the village to do a pub/bar crawl. Wasn't bad at all.

I booked the 2-bedroom suite which includes 1 queen, 2 twins, 1 bunk bed (2 twins again) as well as a pull out sofa (about the size of a queen). It has a full kitchen (with dishwasher!) as well as 2 bathrooms, which is good when you have a suite of 7 guys.

We heard about the BBQs that are available, but they are charcoal based. If you plan on using them and didnlt bring any charcoal, then the front desk has you covered ($7.50?) . They are located next to the tennis court. I did check the Whistler Village Grocery store (the one near Moe Joes) but they didnt seem to sell charcoal, at least not that I could find. Perhaps Nesters has some for a better price?

The pool seems to have great hours of operation and was told you could also bring your own booze down. The pool was packed during our 2 night stay.

The suite we had also have 3 pots and a small frying pan. If you plan on doing some cooking in the kitchen, check to see what you might want to cook with as you might need to bring it with you.

There is 1 small safe in the bedroom with the twin beds.

Overall the stay was good. We didn't feel too squished. It's not like staying at the Westin or Pan Pacific, but if you're on a budget and want something comfortable without breaking that budget then the Tantalus seems to be fairly good. There are I think 4 floors but only 1 elevator, at times we would skip the elevator and take the stairs. .

If I stayed with a large group again, I would probably book the Tantalus

Dear OnyxDragun,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback from your most recent stay at the Tantalus Lodge. I am glad to read that you enjoyed your stay and your stag. Our BBQ's are a very popular feature here and our guest love that. Having them fuelled with charcoal instead of the conventional propane ads to the resort feel. Thank you again we appreciate your feedback.

Sincerely.
