“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Stayed for 4 nights in the middle of the ski season. Great location, nice and close to the grocers and drug store and an easy walk to the lifts. Great amenities in the rooms, with cooking facilities etc which is great for an expensive town like Whistler. Got sick one day and so spent the entire day in the room - could have been far worse places to be sick with the flu.

Last week, we (my wife, her 2 visiting sisters and I) went up to Whistler Village for a 1 night quick getaway and we stayed at the Blackcomb Lodge right in the heart of the village. We chose this hotel because of the location (very near to the Greyhound coach stop in the village) and the excellent price. We stayed at the loft which can house 4-6 people. It came with the usual oven, microwave, dishwasher and full range of crockery and was tidy and clean.

On the whole, the stay at the lodge was pleasant and the staff was very helpful and courteous. They even allowed us to have a very late check-out as it was a low season period. This unexpected bonus really made our day and we say a very big thank you!!

As you mentioned the lodge is very conveniently located for guests traveling by Greyhound or other coach lines with the bus stops being a 20 second walk away from our door.

Booked this hotel after taking advantage of a Groupon and since I have previously stayed at this property and paid regular rate, it was a great deal. Upon booking the Hotel room, I specified that the one night stay was for a quiet get away and requested a "Quiet" room.
We arrived a couple of hours before checkin and was accommodated by the hotel letting us park our car in a spot for the duration of our stay. We then wandered around Whistler, shopping, eating and showed back at the hotel 3 hours later to find that our room was indeed ready.
The room we received (#129) was away from the elevator at the end of the hallway and was definately quiet.
However, this was disappointingly not the case when midnight came, as it turned out to be right over a nightclub (The Savage Beagle) and right behind some trees that blocked main street Whistler. Late night partiers leaving the clubs, being excessively loud and the constant "Rave" music pounding from below made for a night of no sleep afor my husband and myself.
The early checkout of 10:00 am did not help the situation either after all the nights loud disturbances and when asked "How our nights stay was?" by the front desk Mgr I politely said that my idea of a quiet room was not being put above a nightclub. The Manager just sighed and said I guess not.

The property however is well maintained, has an indoor pool, jaccuzzi and is in the middle of Whistler village. Very central to all ammenities and attractions. It's disappointing that the persons assigning the room did not think before putting us in this hotel room as it definately hit a negative spot with me. Especially since we have stayed prior and asked for a quiet room and they did not disappoint. Perhaps this was just a one time mishap and if asked whether or not I would stay at the property again, I would probably give them another shot to redeem themselves with my request.

Room Tip: When requesting a quiet location, mention to the front desk attendant that you want to avoid being p...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your recent stay at The Blackcomb Lodge. We are happy to hear that you find the lodge to be a great property and have visited us multiple times. Returning guests are very important to our success!

The lodge has 3 main room types with only 5 of 71 rooms being the 'hotel room' style you purchased with your Groupon voucher. Those rooms are all located at the far end of the building where you definitely can hear the noise from the Whistler village and the near by night clubs. This should have been communicated with you when you made your reservation and maybe other arrangements set up and for that we must apologize. I was the manager you spoke with at check out and I do recall our conversation regarding the noise issues and my disappointment that you had been placed in that location after requesting a quiet stay. I am sorry if you feel I didn't adequately address it at that time but please contact myself at any time & I would be happy to discuss what we can do to redeem ourselves.

Thank you again for choosing The Blackcomb Lodge and we hope to see you again in the future.

I came to Whistler with my three sisters & baby niece for a quick getaway & became disappointed with the hotel very early on our trip. We requested a king size bed for my pregnant sister & her toddler so they can sleep together, only to find two twin beds set up. We notified the reception desk and it took them over 4 hours to respond. There were no pillows or comforter for the soda bed, which required another wait. The tv was not cooperating so the attendant reset the tv which took 1 hour to reboot. Only to find out that we can't rent movies from the tv and had to go to 711 to rent one. I sent the 17 & 18 year old at 11pm to rent a movie. Called the night quits pretty early & lay in bed listening to the drunken crowds outside our hotel. We are in the heart of the village so if you're not planning on staying out late, don't stay here. We gave this place a try but I will not be coming back. Too many other choices that compare better than the Blackcomb lodge.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay at The Blackcomb Lodge. We must apologize for the issues you encountered during your stay with us. After reading your review we had discussions among the management team to determine why it took so long for our staff to deal with the issues that you reported. It was a break down in communication between staff and a lack of required supplies at that time. We have addressed this with the our staff so they know that going forward we can't have them not inform the rest of team and leave the guest expecting service for such a period of time.

Again we are sorry for the issues you encountered during your stay.

Right in the centre of town, the back entrance is across the road from the bus loop and beside the info centre. The front entrance is in the village square with grocery store, and restaurants right there. The rooms were clean, central, great hot tub and pool and friendly helpful staff. The room had a little balcony where I could see the action below. Friday and Saturday night it is a bit noisy as the party people walk past below but you must expect that from a central location. Well recommended.

We recently spent a night at the Lodge and enjoyed our stay very much. Clean, spacious room, nicely stocked kitchenette, super comfortable bed, friendly staff, excellent location. We would definitely stay there again, but being aware next time that the room was a little on the warm side, despite the fact the heat was off. We chose not pick a room overlooking the plaza, which was a good idea. Being a Saturday night it can get a little noisy with late-night revelers, but being on the street side we did not hear them. Also, parking was an issue for us. Reserved underground spaces are extremely limited and after coming back early in the evening we had to park at the Hilton parking garage, about 1/2 block away. Our bikes were locked onto our bike rack, but still felt uncomfortable leaving them there, as you did not need your room key to open the garage gate, as you do the Lodge . We felt there should have been some compensation, but none was offered. Despite this issue, we will be back!

Thank for taking the time to write a review of your stay at The Blackcomb Lodge. We are happy to hear that you very much enjoyed your stay and that you would choose to stay with us again. As was the case with your stay we recommend to guests looking for quiet to request a room on the non village side as this eliminates a lot of the outside noise from being so centrally located in the Whistler village.

On busy weekends, with extra cars, our parking can fill up and we do have to send guests to our over flow parking below the Holiday Inn. We have complimentary secure bike storage at the hotel and if guests are parking at the over flow we would recommend that they don't leave their bikes on their vehicle.

Thank you for choosing The Blackcomb Lodge & Whistler Premier for your Whistler accommodation needs.

There were only a few issues with the hotel... Not enough pillows, and when we requested more we were told that there was a shortage that night. The second was that there was no ice bucket in the room and the fridge didn't really get cold. And finally, the air conditioner in the room got so hot on the outside of it that the heat from it offset any col air coming out of it.

Other than that, a great place to stay (especially for the deal price).

Thank you for posting a review of your stay at The Blackcomb Lodge. We pleased to hear that you found the staff nice and had good stay even though you encountered a few issues. Sorry about that!

We were short on pillows after a busy summer season and that has been addressed as we have ordered over 200 more to make sure this doesn't occur again. As well there is a planing in place to ensure that during next summer's hot months there will adequate cooling in the rooms to make them a far more comfortable temperature.

Thank you for choosing Whistler Premier and The Blackcomb Lodge for your Whistler accommodation needs.
