Scattered in the valley and into the foot of both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains sits the village of amazing hotels;houses;shops;restaurants etc covering pretty well everything you need to have a good time. Much of the village is pedestrianised with ski lifts to both peaks right in the village. No long bus journeys here. In the winter the lifts take the skiers and in the summer mountain bikers take over closely followed by walkers and those braving the peak to peak gondola. Purchase a combined ski lift gondola ticket looking out for wildlife especially brown/black bears. Remember that it will be quite chilly on the peaks with quite a lot of snow so dress accordingly, especially footwear. If bears are what you want to see then head out on the highway 99 and turn off right towards the Olympic Village of 2010. Early morning/evening are the best times, drive slowly/quietly and you will be rewarded. On 1 day we saw 10 bears right by the roadside eating the lush grass there. Dining out is not cheap but Canada is overall more expensive than the UK especially alcohol.
