“Simply the best skiing resort in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Even the nightlife and restaurants are catching up with Europe. Endless pistes for those who like it easy. Back country now becoming more accessible. Suggested itinerary for proper skiers/riders: Day one warm up on Whistler and run down to Creekside for lunch. Day two/three: sign up from Extremely Canadian Steep & Deep clinic, Day four: heli-skiing, days five & six back to the pistes for a warm down and to show off your awesome skills! Adjust programme to be heliskiing on a Saturday to avoid mega lift queues.

“Felt Like Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

We decided to bite the bullet and head to Whistler since the conditions in Ontario (our home hill is Blue Mountain) are simply lacking and we just needed more. We were not disappointed.

A week in Whistler Blackcomb is simply not enough! We noticed that the lift operators were always friendly, and the couple times we had to deal w/ staff regarding our lift tickets (and fresh tracks) the service was awesome.

We rode in blue bird sunny conditions, zero visibility conditions, and snowy/wet conditions. Even when the weather was less than stellar, you can find an area of the mountain where you will be happy. One of the days there was zero visibility at the peak. But the glades were fantastic. Another day it was rainy at the base, but sunny at the peak! Either way, it was better than what we have in Toronto & area. I'll take real snow any day over the fake stuff!

5 days of snowboarding, legs burnt out, body exhausted and we still wanted more. It is almost impossible to take the same route twice unless you are actively trying and the lift lines moved quickly (even on BC's family day where they were offering half price lift tickets for it's residents). The Gondola lines were long tho.

It's expensive. But worth it. We booked this quite early and purchased Edge Lift tickets. So per day, the lift ticket ended up being cheaper than a full day at Blue Mountain. For those going for more than a couple days, pick up the Edge card. That card also gives you discounts at some of the stores.

Kudos to the grooming team :) We took advantage a couple mornings and purchased fresh tracks life tickets. Totally worth the money if you can get up early enough. Buffet breakfast and first access to the runs. Worth every penny.

The Peak2Peak gondola also allows for easy access to both mountains without having to go all the way to the base to switch mountains.

Personally, as a snowboarder I love Blackcomb but had the most fun in the glades on Whistler.

We can't wait to go back and are already planning our trip for next season!

“Whistler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Our family took a trip to whistler for skiing on President's w/e. With information from Trip Advisor and thru friends, we purchased the Edge Pass. Unfortunately because our family only skied for two days, we could not maximize their three day pass discounts. So, we purchased two single day pass; we saved about $20 per ticket per day. That was quite a saving.

The weather that w/e was rather 'warm'; the village temperature was a balmy 3 degrees everyday. There was no snow in the village; no winter wonderland scenery. However, the skiing was great at the top.

We rented a condo thru alluradirect693; a studio condo within 5 mins. from the village. The close proximity to the village stores and restaurants was a bonus. The condo has high speed Internet and it was just steps from the hot tub. I also liked that there was a kitchen and washer/dryer. The owners are exceptionally hospitable. The emailed us several times b/4 our departure to make sure we rec'd all the information for getting into the condo and for directions to the condo.

Although the property indicates that it sleeps 4, it was a crowded room. Since we were only there at nights it was alright. It would be more suitable studio for a couple.

“absolutely incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

we live in Virginia and Snowshoe is our closest nice resort. we have also visited to Mount Snow in Vermont (which was about comparable), but this place is absolutely amazing. The runs are ridiculously long and beautiful. They offer so much room to "go out of bounds" and free style ski between trees. Lifts show all of the possible acreage that can be skiied / boarded for those who want to really experience free style and wild. There is SO much skiiable terrain that even after 5 days of skiing, it's still incredible. I just don't know what other words to use except amazing and incredible!! love it here!!

“Very nice, lots to do, skiing or not”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This place is pretty amazing. There are so many runs between the two mountains and for all skill levels. I am a beginner-Intermediate skiier/snowboarder and there were a bunch of runs to keep me entertained. You have ski rentals, storage lockers, ticket offices, and restaurants all at the base of the mountain. I was very impressed with the ton of shops that were all through the village. Just about everything was walking distance from my hotel. I stayed at Stoney Creek North Star and it was about a 10 minute walk to the gondola. There was no need to lug anything around since there were lockers and ski storage at the base. All in all, I would go back to Whistler, even though there are many places between my hometown in Texas and Canada. It is not my favorite ski report but it is definitely in the top three. The worst part of the trip was the three hour drive between the airport and my hotel. I took Pacific Coach Line service, look for my review on them here soon. I do recommend, if possible, renting your own vehicle or hiring a private shuttle to take you to and from the airport and whistler. Normal drive time should be about 1.5 hours. It took us 3 hrs.
